I experienced the joy of walking in the woods with my dog. 💯 Kindlestown can be found a 7 minute drive away from Greystones in County Wicklow. For me the absolute best surprise and highlight of this is the view from the top, where you can see Greystones harbour, seaside, surrounding countryside and the Sugarloaf Mountain. Historically in 1301 this area belonged to a sheriff by the name of Albert de Kinley, these woods forming part of the old Bellevue Estate. I would rate the as a super relaxed through the forest and up the hill. In total it’s about a 1km return around and up to the top of the hill, but with the variety of trails throughout the area you can stretch the distance a bit if you are looking for a bit more cardio. Rating scale 1 – 5 (with 1 low, 5 high) Points of interests: 3 (view) Trail distance: 1 (very short walk) Reserve size: 1 (small area) Trail maintenance: 5 (no issues) Cleanliness: 3 (dog litter to watch out for) Parking: 2 (dedicated at the entrance but can get busy) Elevation: 2 (small incline up the hill) Amenities: 1 (just a bench) I mainly use Kindlestown Woods for bike trails (but biking is not allowed) and walking my dogs. It's not terribly big but if you go around the perimeter, it's not too bad. With the storms of January 2025, there had been some damage to the trails with fallen trees The car park is also small so on a busy day it can be hard to get parking. Nice uphill offering some lovely views. We were even able to get pretty much everywhere even with our buggy. As it wasn't too busy even though it was a lovely day, there was plenty of space in the Amazing views but not well signposted. Decent space for parking. Very peaceful, scenic, calm cool and shady woods....Nice small paths amidst the forest Good for kids and dogs too....enough space available...unfortunately camping is not permitted Lovely view Great local woods for easy and quiet short hikes and walks One of the most beautiful and unspoiled pieces of natural forest in Wicklow. Easy access and nice gentle walking trails Such a lovely forest for beginners or medium hiker. Great for dogs and the trail loops around which is handy. Car park is big enough with plenty of spaces. Nice and easy loop, kids&dogs friendly and the handy car park. Absolutely stunning views and tranquil trekking experience. Fantastic today! Lots of surprises on the way! Trees with Christmas decorations all along the way it was magical, hats off to whoever did that! Great for a walk, you can make a circle starting from an easy access car park. Doable with young kids and great views! A lovely with great views.
