Great for all the family, although there is a lot of scrabbling at the top. The carpark is convenient. The are stunning of Dublin and Wicklow. Easy to moderate walk. We went on a soft Irish day. Very low visibility at the top. On a sunny day for sure fabulous views. Out was a family walk with a 5 year old who led the way to the top. What happens to you when you eat sugar? Your energy levels spike high quickly, but then drop just as sudden. Same goes for the sugar loaf. You have to kickstart your energy levels from the beginning and the steepest part is just before the peak. If you go fast you can get up in as little as 25 minutes. But overall, I would allocate 1.5 to 2 hours for the hike, just to be on the save side - selfie and pano breaks included. The from up top are stunning as you can see all the way to Dublin City. Great for a Sunday afternoon, it took about an hour in total to get from the carpark to the top and back again. Breathtaking from the top you can see lots of Dublin and Wicklow. Great hiking place. Did the long trecking 'cause went by bus so I started opposite to the car park it was totally worth it though. Nice view of land and sea on a clear day. Can get easily packed on the last ramp that is rocky and steep. There's an access from the Gaa stadium on the North side that is thorny and not well marked but more quiet Perfect walk on a good day. The last part of the climb is hard but I see children do it. Bring a walking poles if you can. Can be windy even on a good day. Good space at the top to have something to eat. The walk is free and the can be great if you get a clear day. Sadly the clouds not playing fair the day I was there and will have to go back. About 25 mins would walk you to the top but there is an element of rock scrambling at the top which is the steepest bit. Such a refreshing short hike. It was so windy we nearly blew off but there were so many visitors of all ages. Great way to blow the cobwebs away. Well worth the last steep climb to reach the summit DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES IN THE CAR (beautiful though). Apparently this is very common at this spot. Beautiful views. Worth it. Afternoon with the kids (15, 8 and 6) all well able for it. A small amount of easy climbing at the top. Just wish people would clean up after themselves. We collected and brought home a bag of rubbish - it’s a difficult call for county council to provide bins or not as some people abuse them. Lovely when weather is good. No facilities, ie toilets. Pity people won't bring their rubbish home. Ruins the track.
