We visited Firehouse Bakery in Delgany on a sunny Sunday afternoon and had mixed feelings. The variety of bread was genuinely impressive — beautifully displayed, clearly artisanal, and we ended up buying a Guy loaf to take home and try. That part lived up to the reputation. We also ordered two pizzas: the special of the day and one with goat cheese and pear. While the crust was nicely baked in their wood-fired oven, the pear on the second pizza was unfortunately underripe, which threw off the flavour balance. The real downside, though, was the service. We sat outside waiting quite a while for someone to notice us or at least acknowledge we were there — but nothing. There were over five staff behind the counter and bar, yet no one seemed to be paying attention to the outdoor area, and none offered any assistance or direction. It gave the impression that staff might still be in need of proper customer service training, especially when it comes to attentiveness. Also surprising — the drink fridge was completely empty. On a warm Sunday, that just felt like a missed opportunity. All in all, the bakery itself has great potential, especially for bread lovers, but the café experience left a lot to be desired. With some improvement in service and attention to detail, it could truly match the hype. Small store with many options around fresh bread and pastries. We ordered sandwiches which came with nice bread but the meat was quite dry. Also make sure to go early as their pastries go fast. Dog friendly and toilet available too. An instant and wonderful find. Great bakery, fresh artisan breads and pastries. Suprisingly busy place, there are ample tables but overwhelmed by the crowd. The cafe has a rustic feel, and they staff are cordial. Adjacent to the bakery is a fresh produce grocery, wide selection of fruits veggies. If your are on a long drive passing by Delgany, this is a nice stop. I attended the one day course on Artisan Bread Baking at Firehouse Bakery in Newtownmountkennedy and it was thoroughly enjoyable. It was a small mixed class of 8 like-minded enthusiasts. Patrick Ryan, our instructor, was professional, informative, enthusiastic and very generous with both his time and his advice to our questions. I will be recommending this class to all my friends as a day not to be missed and an excellent investment in their future baking skills. Amazing place for breakfast. We really enjoyed the food.We ordered Avocado feta cheese toast, Chicken Benedict, Veggie breakfast ,Cake, pastries. Everything was so delicious 😋. Staff was nice. A gem of a find. Shop and coffee shop. The shop is a treasure trove of healthy foods, teas, and tasty treats, an amazing array of fresh fruit and vegetable. Only wish I lived near here. We then visited the coffee shop which is cosy, friendly, and the staff so customer orientated. There was a door open, so the area was fresh and comfortable. We had a lovely lunch though we arrived close to closing time we were not rushed. Recommend shop for variety and coffee shop for service and quality of food served. Lovely place. Their food is delicious and they have such a big selection of pastry and bred The food was seriously amazing! Parking was a bit of a head-scratcher, but honestly, it was so worth it. I'd come back for brunch from anywhere in Ireland. Worth every penny! Delicious baked goods, lovely atmosphere and service. Lots of options. A True Gem - Exceptional Food and Even Better Kindness To the entire team Sarah ,Anna and Emily We are frequent visitors, often with my father and niece, and every single experience is nothing short of exceptional. This restaurant is a true gem, and we leave every time having created another beautiful memory. The food is consistently outstanding, but what truly sets you apart is your incredible staff and their genuine kindness. A perfect example of this was when Sarah personally called to check on my dad noticing we had not been in for a while. That gesture of care, going so far above and beyond, meant the world to us. As someone with many years of experience in the hospitality trade, I know true excellence when I see it. You have built something special here. Thank you for the outstanding food, the warm atmosphere, and for treating us like family. We cannot recommend you highly enough.
