And definitely take a walk in the quaint surroundings. And there are numerous nice hiking trails too. Beautiful place, especially if you like peace and quiet. Nice walks are available around the castel. Gardens are beautiful, and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view of the castle. There is also a restaurant and information desk. Don't forget to pass by orangery, it's also a beautiful and charming place. We made a point of visiting the during the time of the guided (every day at 2pm in summer, only in Swedish) and the hour spent wandering through the grounds of the fortified mansion and its rooms was a delight. Our guide, Annika, who doubles as gardener when she is not guiding visitors inside the mansion was very detailed and thorough in her narration of various episodes from when the was the property of the Ehrenborg family, until - in 1988 - the state agency for historical buildings took over and undertook renovation. I attended the Renaissance fair, Hovdala medeltidsdagar. Absolutely amazing! Such a great and the garden and environment surrounding was so beautiful 😍 Een geweldig slot. We hebben daar ook een wandeling gemaakt naar de biblotheek ruine. Dit is volgens de aanwijzingen gebouwt in de indische stijl met veel ramen om licht binnen te krijgen. Helaas was de wegwijziging naar de gele route van af het slot moeilijk te vinden. Maar na enkele kilometers te dwalen toch nog gevonden. We took a brief as it was raining lots that day.
