It took a bit (10 to 12 minutes) from the parking to the waterfalls, but it should be a good experience of through the woods , really nice. Calm and quiet atmosphere, I visited in the month of August on a weekday and it’s not busy. Recommend to visit on a Sunny day. A beautiful, well kept area to in. There is a looped trail from the carpark to the waterfall and a lake trail. Was very peaceful when we went, very few others around. The waterfall was fast flowing as we went after heavy rain. Somewhere quiet to be around nature. Tourmakeady Waterfalls, located in County Mayo, Ireland, offers a truly enchanting experience for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful escape. Here's why it's considered "very nice": Natural Beauty In summary, Tourmakeady Waterfalls offers a truly enjoyable experience due to its captivating natural beauty, well-maintained walking trails, family-friendly amenities, and tranquil atmosphere, making it a highly recommended destination in County Mayo. One of the most peaceful and refreshing spots I’ve come across during my time here. The to Tourmakeady Waterfall is calm and easy — around 10 to 15 minutes from the car park — with a wide, flat path shaded by trees the whole way. As you walk, you slowly start to hear the sound of rushing water until the view finally opens up to a beautiful, tucked-away waterfall that feels completely untouched. The area around the falls is quiet, clean, and perfect for just sitting on the rocks, dipping your feet in, or simply taking it all in. There’s also a small nature trail entrance near the lot with some cool carved wooden seats and signage — a nice extra if you’re into photos or want to explore a little more. Parking was easy and free, and when I went during the week, there was barely anyone around, which made the experience even better. If you’re visiting the area and want to slow down and take in some real nature without a packed crowd, this place is 100% worth the stop. Definitely one of the standout spots I’ve experienced during my trip. Pretty place and nice walking path. It’s not a big attraction so we saw two people there which is nice and private. Great location to swim and relax with family. Absolutely worth the mile-ish round trip (very flat and simple pathway accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, etc. the falls are stunning and it was nearly empty when we visited on a Sunday night in July! Oasis in the middle of nowhere Definitely worth visiting for a lovely quiet weekend It’s a beautiful place and there are great amenities. However, it’s not wheelchair accessible. It’s nearly a kilometre along an uneven gravel track. It might be ok with an off road wheelchair or a large scooter but definitely not a standard wheelchair.
