Skarhult Castle

Looked lovely, but it has now become private The castle itself, nothing special. Five rooms and some history. But the Ester Blenda exhibition, superb. Really worth while. Being one of Sweden's best preserved Renaissance castles we would have loved to visit this historic site together with it's gardens. But, assumlingly a pandemic's victim, it is now closed for the public. However, we enjoyed the organic eggs from the farm shop. Well preserved. Nice place to visit. Totally disappointed by this place. Barely three rooms to look at; not worth the price of admission. Largely a waste of time. Avoid! During the Easter time was not possible to visit the castle, but there was a beautiful little shop with local products and the church very close too. In addirion would like to mark that there around are a lot of bunnies, roe deer and pheasants. A very pretty castle in a lovely location for a picnic. The exhibit on women in power and the lovers was well done but much smaller than I expected especially for the high entrance fee. I appreciated the English guide book or my friend would have had to translate everything for me. It would have been nice to see more of the castle. It was not that busy but the rooms are small so it seems cramped when a larger group comes in. We drove but there is a bus stop right outside the entrance. Skarhult Castle is a fantastic place to visit, especially if you’re interested in history and culture. The exhibitions inside are well-curated and often focus on untold stories, particularly women’s history, which makes the visit unique and thought-provoking. The castle itself is beautifully preserved, and the surrounding gardens and parkland add to the experience. A true treasure in the Skåne countryside – highly recommended!
