Barajul Frumoasa este localizat pe râul Frumoasa, afluent al râului Olt. Este realizat din umpluturi cu prisme de rezistență din balast și un nucleu central de argilă. Are o înălțime de 38 m și o lungime a coronamentului de 506 m. Zona din apropierea barajului este cunoscută pentru pescuit. În apele lacului Frumoasa sunt diverse specii de pești: biban, caras, clean, crap românesc, păstrăv de lac, plătică, șalău și somn. În apropiere s-au construit foarte multe pensiuni și case de vacanță, devenind astfel o zonă turistică destul de bine dezvoltată. Turiștii care aleg să vină la Barajul Frumoasa se pot relaxa într-o zonă liniștită și superbă, putând face diverse trasee turistice. The turqoise color of the lake is absolutely beautiful. You cannot go near to it, so maybe that's why it still has that color 😂 Nice place where you can make a stop on your way back home.
