I have Always got a meal here, they are very consistent. Recently went to a confirmation celebration here with over 30 guests, the girls were terrific when taking the orders and had piping hot food on the table in front of us within a few minutes, despite the fact that the rest of the restaurant was full and there was another confirmation celebration at the same time. It didn’t matter how busy the girls were they responded to every request promptly and cheerfully. The food was too! Always wanted to stop here, maybe it's the cool traditional thatch roof. Anyway, seemed like a stop for my maiden cycle on the new Midleton to Youghal Greenway. The pubs interior has rustic charm as anticipated. Anyway, was floored by €11.10 for a lackluster Americano and a slender slice of apple tart. The presentation was very nice but it was short on flavour. Well, my curiousity was settled, but once was enough. We had Sunday lunch. 3 adults 2 kids. Simply top class. Beef was most tender beef I’ve had for years. Catered for Gluten free child no problem. Staff, each & everyone of them as nice as the other. They couldn’t accept a tip by card, went back with cash as they made our meal so pleasant. These local businesses deserve our support all year round. Great menu, great meal & great experience. Only thing I’d change was the candle smell at reception, slightly overpowering but I had to pick something to improve. Well done to all. I have been here often but have noted a recent decline, in quality of food and the service. Not all the but the majority on the day I visited were unfriendly bar one young blonde woman. The food was not well presented and was sub par. And there were several dishes not available. We were seated but had to go and find a to remind them to take our order after waiting for about 15 minutes. It seemed others around us seemed to be having the same issues and experience. Pretty disappointing experience overall, burgers were not meat tasted and looked like it was frozen, roast of the day was good, desserts were also disappointing sherry trifle was ok, the meringue was awful, soft not crunchy and the berry roulade smelt gone off, I couldnt finish it, chocolate fudge cake was dry and bland. Wouldnt come here again. Guinness was also quite bad. Service the waitresses were lovely and the pints are really nice and it's nice on the inside atmosphere but by god that food is absolutely brutal, the chef would want to go away and become a barber or something because genuinely his passion is nowhere near that menu. That food feels like it's just sitting in an oven waiting for it's next victim, bland, tasteless ive had better turkey our of a petrol station carvery. I'd say this place is busy just because there's not much else around. Again I would like to say the service and the atmosphere and pints are 10/10 but food is seriously lacking. Very place for lunch food and excellent service. Review of an Absolutely Awful Restaurant: This place was a complete disaster from start to finish. The moment we walked in, the made it painfully clear we weren’t welcome. The service was shockingly rude — the waiter barely spoke, just threw out cold, clipped responses like we were bothering him by even existing. We waited forever for our food, with zero updates or apologies. And when it finally came, it was slammed down on the table with all the charm of a tantrum. No eye contact, no manners, just pure hostility. The food? A total joke — parts of it were still raw, the rest was lukewarm at best, and it tasted like someone gave up halfway through cooking. Trying to get the check was just as miserable. We sat there ignored for what felt like an eternity, watching avoid eye contact like it was a sport. Honestly, I’ve never felt so unwelcome or disrespected in a restaurant. Avoid this place like the plague, it’s not just bad, it’s downright insulting.
