Great place, small but good car with toilet facilities, behind a barrier where you pay €5 entrance fee. I recommend to take a slow car ride around the where you can admire the landscape, and of course putting your foot on any of the trails, all of them being easy and family friendly 😀 Lovely place to visit, I personally walk my dogs here on a daily basis, it has some fantastic walks suitable for all levels, great atmosphere and history about the place, if your lucky you may see some wild deer. Family friendly area, picnic areas available and toilets in the car park, there is an entrance fee of €5 to drive in, free to walk around it. It’s a great place to for a couple of hours. The place has an access to several trails. Some of them are not for beginners but there is several trails even for beginners. There is toilets at several point of the national park, super convenient. Gougane Barra Woodland Trails offer an amazing experience with diverse difficulty levels, ensuring there's something for everyone. The beautiful views, encompassing majestic trees and vibrant wildflowers, create a serene atmosphere that captivates visitors. Convenient amenities like toilets and parking facilities enhance the overall convenience and accessibility. Whether you're a seasoned hiker seeking a challenge or a leisurely stroller looking for a peaceful walk, these trails will leave you in awe of the natural splendor. Absolutely amazing hiking trails and the forest is beautiful. Picnic benches scattered everywhere to enjoy the outdoors sy any desired moment. Highly recommend this forest reserve for the nature and outdoor lovers. We will be back! Great with a good mix of easy trials and more challenging one. We did the big loop which ended up to be 12.20kms. But one would have to be fit and used to difficult terrain. Would surely recommend it the forest loop hike. One has to be aware of the undergrowth and have knowledge of the Hike. I would be easy for people to get into trouble of the extended hike. Lovely place that I'm so in love with. But warning, traffic is really bad in gorgeous weather like when we went there as it takes us hours to get to the end of our destination from Cork city (more than 2hrs😔) . Loads of parked cars on the narrow roads, so incoming & outgoing cars were stucked along the way, lots of incoming cars made a U-turn as well to leave. By the time we arrived, less people were around, worth of our perseverance to stay on course. Brilliant walk with different levels of difficulty. Some areas were slippy so I'd reccomend good shoes with grip. There was a trail for the entire which was handy. It's about 1 and a half hours from the car to the top and a loop around. Gorgeous views from the top.
