A pub or inn right on the old road exactly on the border between counties Kerry and Cork. The landscape is mountainous, beautiful and quite desolate. Driving up there on a narrow road, often with only one lane, you wonder who would go there these days when the new road, the N22, is so much easier and faster, in places built to motorway standard. You can not be more mistaken. When you reach the pub, you will be amazed by the amount of parked cars and people, from near and far. The food is excellent, the atmosphere in the bar likewise, nowhere does Guiness taste better! Just remember: unless you stay overnight (they have rooms) your company needs a designated driver! Enjoy your visit. Lovely staff, the young lady who served us was naturally friendly and helpful, answered our questions and asked about ourselves, the craic was good, the food was even better, we had toasted specials, the ham was home cooked and it was delicious, lovely salad and chips alongside, a lovely place to stop off while in Kerry, thank you for your hospitality The highest pub in Ireland at 320 meters. The view is nice. Inside the pub is pretty cosy and the staff is very friendly. Chicken wings were very good as well as deserts. Excellent Food served by very efficient and nice staff. We had a nice pint and we were looking forward to a meal from the special menu. We unfortunately picked a day when the kitchen was only serving a private function and not general public. Stopped at TOP OF COOM on our way to GOUGANE BARRA FOREST. Glad I did, we arrived at about 3pm, before the dinner rush so we were the only two there. Bartender was real nice, we ordered the homemade chips with curry and cheese, very good. Highly recommend getting those. Not reason it’s not a 5 is cause we got there to early to experience the whole vibe. Arrived late but they still prepared a meal for me. Very friendly !!! Best lasagne I've ever had! Great meal!
