Cool little spot tucked away in the heart of Kenmare. Well kept and very peaceful and quiet. There were a couple other visitors that arrived at the same time, but I can imagine this spot being absolutely empty most of the time for you to enjoy all on your own. There’s a nice sized car park and it’s free. The admission to this site is based on the honor system. Just drop €2 into the box. There is also a very cool “wishing tree” that you hang your wish on. The papers are in the kiosk where the donation box is. We visited the of stones and had a good time. I did touch the stone, tapped my heels three times, and my wife Claire told me not to go. If you are doing the Ring of Kerry yourself, this should be on your list for a stop. We were there in the off season, February, and there was no one else around. It costs a couple of euros, and there is an honor box, so bring coins. The walk is very short. The is well preserved. There is a tourist-mistreated fairy next to the circle. It is obvious that no one has a history of fairies and wishes by the items hung on this tree. It would be a better experience is people read about hawthorne trees before "making a wish" here, or if there was a placard with some of that information. Lovely. There isn't much to see, you really need to use your imagination as to what went on there up to 4000 years ago. You can write your wishes on a card and attach it to a hawthorn tree, card supplied at entrance. Lovely circle, not massive but one of the largest in South-East Ireland, with brief explanation boards on its significance. There's a car park next door with picnic benches. It was staffed while we were there but a €2 honestly charge at other times. Lovely collection of gifts and trinkets, well curated and reasonably priced. The scented candles are amazing, There is no entry fees but there is a board at the requesting €2 per person to be dropped, for maintenance and upkeep. It is a very short walk from Kenmare, which is equally as charming! The offers history, fairy trees (were you can leave a wish!), and cute souvenirs, with an authentic and respectful air. These are sandstones in a limestone area so they’re well travelled. There’s an honesty box so always recommended to leave a donation when entering. The folks running the are very friendly and have great local knowledge. I appreciated the great conversation there and of course will return. It’s a special spot with two hawthorns to capture your wishes. A truly magical experience for the fine price of €2! This ancient is bordered by some Hawthorn trees upon which to leave your wishes for the fairies that live in this mystical place. You can truly feel the sacred and mythic energy in this place. All in all a nice little in well kept surroundings by a river, yes there is a small charge to get in but it was only two euros each.
