A comprehensive of art A wonderful and must-see museum to spend quality time in Sofia. It has three stories each of which has stunning paintings. However the museum needs some renovation. I would expect more explanations for each hall and painting. A must-visit for art lovers! As the largest art in Sofia, this place is a true gem for art enthusiasts. With hundreds, if not thousands, of artworks on display, you could easily spend an entire day here just browsing and admiring the masterpieces. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, providing me with insights into some of the most significant pieces both before and during my visit. I would recommend setting aside at least two for your visit, but if you're passionate about art, you could easily get lost in the beauty for on end The inside of the is quite spacious. There is an indoor courtyard that connects to another building. The art displayed is from different parts of the world, and the temporary exhibition features works by Picasso. A nice follow-up after visiting the Palace National Art Gallery, which only took me about 15 minutes to walk through. This features more works by Bulgarian artists and gives a better impression of the country's artistic and historical background. Wonderful of mostly Bulgarian art, though there are select pieces and galleries from outside Bulgaria. I spent about three and could have spent more. Not crowded at all during the week day. In the cellar you can even find quite big of native African and Asian art. Visit takes at least 3-4h if you want to see everything and stop once a while to pay attention do some pieces. It takes at least 3 to see everything. Staff is very kind and responsive. Bathrooms are available on each floor. Not enough (visual) directions so you can easily get lost. You should ask the lady at the shop after the ticket office for the best route to see everything. The entry ticket costs 10 BGN and can be paid with a card or a phone. It is not crowded at all. Highly recommend it for everyone visiting Sofia. Bulgarian and foreign paintings are displayed on the different floors of the building. There are a lot of sculptures as well. Картината Луцифер е малко плашеща, препоръчвам и Момичето с гълъба. Too much to see in too little time. When we wanted to enter we already got warned that we only had 2 left. "Sounds like plenty of time, we'll enter". This has multiple stories with permanent and temporary exhibitions. This time there was also the biennial glass expo which was simply a feast for the eyes. Sadly we didn't get to see half of the permanent since we were too occupied with the glass and some temporary parts we just got to see. Definitely worth a visit, but make sure you can spend a lot of time here :) The Kvadrat 500 complex hosts the largest part of the gorgeous of the National of Bulgaria, spanning from the revival of Bulgarian National art in the XVIII-XIX centuries to the great masters of the XX century, like Dimitrov. The staff is very grumpy and not welcoming, always walking behind you, like you’re going to steal something and constantly reminding you not to take pictures.
