The entire Lecea welcomed us with such warmth, generosity, and accommodation—especially remarkable as we were traveling with our 6-month-old, who they made feel right at home. A great day in La Rioja. I can highly recommend this bodega. We joined an English-speaking that lasted about 1.5 hours. What I really liked was that there were two tastings during the itself, perfectly paired with the explanations about viticulture – not just a quick tasting at the very end like in many other places. What also makes this bodega special is its history: at one point the town had around 300 underground cellars, but today this is the only one that still exists in its original form. The winery/cave is really informative and it’s fun to imagine (and see!) how was made centuries ago. We followed that up with a drive to the vineyard with the same guide. We got to see the Lecea vines (as well as the vineyards of many others) and learn more about the grapes.
