We were in Leuven for the weekend, so we googled for a local with tours. We don't know why, but when we saw the Hof ten Dormaal, we knew this was the spot to go. We tasted some and then we talked with Jef for a tour. Jef is the brewer and as soon as he starts to talk, you realize that he's passionate about the art of making beer. He showed us the and talked about the process. In the end, he also took us to the farm to meet a calf born in the previous night. Thank you Jef. There is a nice cozy tasting room that is open on Saturdays, where you can taste atleast 10 different beers. It's easy to reach by bicycle from Leuven Best tour I had in Belgium so far (3 years). We used to have it as a bike route destination from Brussels (some 25km of cycling one way, through Flanders fields like from Van Gogh paintings!). Choose excellent craft of your preference! Great on a working farm. Very tasty beers (huge variety) & the gardens are so lovely. Pastoral bliss! I spent a very enjoyable Saturday afternoon at the sampling as many of the brews as I could.
