This was our family's (3 generations consisting of 4 adults and 2 kids) first time here for a meal which we had booked a table for in advance as it was for Sunday lunch. For starters, we sampled chicken & mushroom vol au vent; 2 x shocos special chicken wings with blue cheese dip and cajun fried calamari all priced at €9 between us. All portions were generous, the food was tasty and all were happy. I had the wings which were flavourful and I also got to taste the calamari which were impressive. For mains, I ordered the roast leg of lamb with a rich red wine gravy as did my husband. We both enjoyed the lamb. My parents opted for the pan roasted sea trout with white wine sauce and they were pleased with this. These particular mains were all €18 each & served with butter mash and seasonal vegetables. Again generous portions and all were satisfied. The kids were catered for by the kids priced at 10.50 each. You could pick 1 main of either battered fish, chicken goujons, Sausages or macaroni cheese. You could then pick 1 side of vegetables /mash/plain pasta/salad/rice/chips. You could then choose 1 of either icecream/brownie/cookie and 1 drink of either milk/cordial/coke/fizzy orange/fruit shoot. They had macaroni cheese, icecream and a drink each. They were too little to avail of the side. Perhaps a baby bowl of a roast dinner could be added to the as an option. For desserts, one chose the sticky toffee pudding and another went for the warm chocolate brownie with butterscotch sauce. My Dad wasn't keen on the mint ice-cream served with the brownie but ate it regardless (both desserts €6 on the but charged €6.50: needs updating). A cappuccino (€3.40); latte (€3.40) and Americano (€3) were ordered to aid digestion. The non-drivers savoured pints of Guiness at €5 & Rockshore at €5.60. Overall, we had a lovely meal here and would return. The food was generous and tasty and the was nicely balanced. I particularly liked how family friendly they were and how they had thought of kids down to colours+paper to occupy them. Kudos to you. Even better value to be had on a special value on a Wednesday and Thursday. Food was lovely and staff friendly just a lovely atmosphere Back here to this spot after a year.... I'll say it simply.. Food was amazing 👏 We were brought in for a 3 course meal and seated and were looked after for the starters and the mains. After that, forget about it. Mains and starter food was good, HOWEVER, its no good when waiters/servers forget about the rest of the evening..... 1 member of service staff avoided our table on purpose to the point we eventually just got up and left after 30 mins......yes, 30 mins. Keep your desert. How sad if this is how you conduct business. I will not return I can promise. Beautiful food and service was brilliant. Cruised into town on a rainy evening with no reservation. The staff was very accommodating and quickly found us a table. I had the coconut carrot soup, which was all time. For my main, I went with the lamb burger. It was succulent and mouth watering good. 10 out of 10 recommend. The Guinness was spot on. Thanks, Champs! I recently visited Maron’s Gastro Pub and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The soup of the day was fantastic, featuring a delicious roasted lamb that left me wanting more. The haddock and chips were perfectly cooked, and I couldn't have asked for a better dish. While the cheesecake wasn't the best I've had, it was still enjoyable. Overall, a great meal and wonderful atmosphere! I was looking forward to a family reunion here on July 26. A group of eight cousins looking forward to good food. Those who ordered steaks were disappointed as none were cooked yo order. When the nsnager asked how our food was and he was told about this, he vanished and never came back to out table. Not impressed at all. The staff also messed up the billing as couples each wanted to pay for their own meals and I was handed a bill for the whole group. I was embarrassed having to clarify that I was not paying for everyone. Amazing as always Thanks kieran and staff Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
