What a surprising little gastronomic delight in the quiet town of Kaštelir. I am a home brewer from the US and my wife and I always look for local wherever we travel. It is not always easy to find, especially outside the big cities. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to find this exceptional in rural Istria, which has such a great reputation for fine wines and food. We tried every he had available, and every one was a home run. In other words, in baseball jargon, the master brewer/owner hit them all out of the park. Adding to the evening‘s pleasure, we shared one of their amazing flatbreads, which is not something I usually order. But this matched the quality of the beers. The owners lived for a long time in Milan, and you can see their aesthetics and attention to detail and appreciation for the highest quality ingredients comes through in everything they do.
