It was opened as a museum on May 15, 1960. Casa dos Patudos has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1996. The was built between 1905 and 1909, and the author of the project was the architect Raul Lino at the request of José Relvas. In 1929 Relvas bequeathed Quinta dos Patudos to the municipality of Alpiarça and asked his be preserved as a museum. Museu de Alpiarça is a wonderful place to visit, the internal architecture is awesome, but we are not allowed to take any photos inside of the house, so you can see them just via official pages. The is guided and usually scheduled. Reservations for a small group are not needed. By the way, there are small exhibitions as well. There are several doors, but just one is the entrance [see the photo below]. In this beautiful country mansion we can appreciate the private wealth that was accumulated by some during the post kingdom years. The furniture, artworks, tapestries, and the itself are all really beautiful. However, the maintenance and upkeep are evidently lacking. The is guided and booking in advance is advisable. A different museum where we can interact with items and see them closer. Home of the silent piano. Nice tour. Super friendly guide. Great collection of art and furmishings. The website does not mention that the tours are guided. Call for tour hours or you may have a long wait between tours. We were lucky to arrive just as tour was starting Very interesting and worth a visit. A relaxed atmosphere even outside, with great views. A great visit, one of the most interesting collections of art in a household with a great back story. Worth the visit. Absoutely must see when in the region. So much history and beauty. Imagine the shadow government in the great hall , as they at the time gathered here complotting to take down the King and establish the Republic... Very well maintained.
