Due to my lack of research, I did not this is used as youth correction center 🤪 so my travel to here just to see this fortress was unfruitful. Very impressive building especially when you look at it from the river. This castel is really beautiful inside. You can get there only on Saturday with the excursion which is happening at 14:00. The excursion is on Swiss German only. We were reading history in advance so it was not such a problem. Excursion is about 1,5 hours. You pay to the guide who is standing at the entrance. Price is 10 CHF , cash only. Incide is currently detention center for the young man who committed some crime. We saw some of them. Castle has an impressive view, many rooms and different zones. The Aarburg castle is a dominant landmark and one of Switzerland's largest castles and a heritage site of national significance. The castle has a church at the front and walls of protection around it. Unfortunately it was closed, as it's only open from April to September. But it was a nice view from infront of the church to the river and the town. Wonderful views, nice castle, church, even an elevator that you can take all the way up, incase it's difficult for you to walk up. Wonderful place, we had the chance to visit the fortress with a guided tour. It costs 10CHF and it takes place at 14 on Saturdays. The tour was in German. Great looking castle used as a prison for the youth. Open quite rarely for visits. Looks great, not visible= big sad Picture is from the hike around. Some of the festung was open to public.
