The oldest bell tower in the world that is still working, more than 500 years after it was built. Amusingly, it also sounds old We liked the museum pretty much. It's not big, but packed with a lot of activities and interactive materials. I would say it's kid oriented, whole floor is dedicated to traditional games so would kids busy for at least few hours. There is also an access to tower with acting chimes. Stuff was very friendly and helpful overall. It's an OLD carillon, so don't expect bells with stunning sound. But this is a hidden gem. We were there noon on a June Saturday and were the only people watching the grand spectacle of the clock striking twelve, and the nymph moving to the music. Nice museum with rich history and very friendly staff. We loved it. Great find. Spent here almost 2 hours. Very entertaining for two adults, no kids, not in a hurry, just wanting to learn more about Waterland. I am staying in a nearby hotel and for some reason you decide to chime your bell at silly hours of the day. I respect that there may be some culture significance to this. However why is there a need to ring your bell past midnight? People in the area are trying to sleep. If you’re a tourist staying in the area be aware! Interesting museum, can see the mechanism of clocktower from inside. Small museum in a small town. What can you expect? We thought 15-20 minutes yet we spent more than 1,5 hour (and we could easily do another hour). Lots of interesting movies about history of the area, upstairs interesting things for younger and older kids. I was really surprised and will come again in the future.
