The Red Lake, just about 1km from the town of Imotski, is one of two lakes that is a natural wonder. Located a few hundred meters down is this phenomenon. The lake, named red because of the rock around it, is very stunning. I parked at the special on the north side. From there is a 1 minute to the views. Despite some comments, it's easy enough for a picture if you a little to get away from the stones. Plenty of there in the designated area. And signs describing the lake. Highly recommend. If you're cruising through southern Croatia near Imotski, make a stop at Crveno Jezero — the Red Lake. It’s not your typical postcard lake, and that's exactly why it’s worth seeing. Just off the main road, there's a small tucked away in the woods. In mid-May, it was completely empty — no crowds, no chaos, just birds and wind. From there, it’s a super short hike — five minutes tops — through a piney path that leads you to the rim of this insane natural sinkhole. The first few viewpoints don’t actually let you see the water itself, but the hole alone — that yawning, vertical drop — hits hard. It’s deep, almost eerily silent, and surrounded by rust-red cliffs that look like something out of a sci-fi movie. You stand there staring into this massive natural crater, and it’s genuinely unsettling in the best way. It feels ancient, raw, like nature flexing. Keep walking around the edge and eventually you’ll get to what I’d call the money shot — probably the fifth viewpoint. From there, you get a proper look down into the itself, and that’s when it really hits you: the scale, the color, the depth. It’s breathtaking. The cliffs drop straight down, and the contrast of the dark water against the red rock is wild. If you’re driving along the main road, there’s also a spot for buses where a lot of people stop just to peek in from that side. It works if you’re short on time — you can probably pull over with a car too — but if you want the proper, more natural vibe, take the route through the woods to the main viewpoint area. It’s quiet, shaded, and gets you close to the real edge of this geological monster. Not for the faint-hearted if you’ve got a fear of heights, but absolutely worth it. Natural wonder: you cannot throw a stone into the lake. A landmark that you must see to believe. A stroll around the and looking down into the abyss from the ledges is quite scarry. Prirodni fenomen. Pristup užasan. Scenery is beautiful but charging 5.50 euro per person for no path, no facilities, is a daylight robbery for tourists when the locals access the for free by just their cars down the Sehr beeindruckend und Sensationell zu sehen, die Ausmaße kann das Menschliche Auge gar nicht richtig erfassen. Erst wenn man versucht einen Stein mit Anlauf ins Wasser zu werfen, erkennt man die Ware Größe, denn es wird nicht gelingen. It's a total gem, a big red gem. A must see if you are anyhwere near Imotski, taking a hike around the "crater" makes it even cooler. Don't miss it, highly recommend. Très bel endroit. Nous avons voulu faire la randonnée qui fait les 2 lacs : lac bleu et rouge. Dommage que pour descendre au lac bleu il faille payer plus de 5€. Breath taking nature with a beautiful and reddish clifs around it, the only minus is path, that on some parts is not secured and would not recommend leaning too forward Visited this place together with blue lake. There are some tourists routes, where you can go around it and enjoy the nature and the from different angles. I haven’t checked it, so only took a few photos from road. There is no separate parking, just a bus stop, but noone cares about it, people just park their vehicles on it :) Worth a visit! Good spot at the top of the mountain. The walkway takes you about 1 1/2 hours if you relaxed. “If you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss starts to gaze into you” Speechless abyss, worth a visit. Ive never seen anything more terrifically beautiful than this chasm Beautiful lake, accessible by foot or car. If you're interested, you can take a small hike from Imotski. The hike roughly 6km round-trip, easy terrain. You can go by the road, but it is nicer to take the country trail. A good around, about 45 min. Not good for people who struggle walking, but otherwise easy. Good view It’s a cool and free roadside attraction for the whole family. Offers wonderful views of the lake. Just park up on the bays of the or the designated place to park it is stunning. There is also another not too far from it which is a different colour. If om you only want to take quick pictures there is a good spot to park by the road. Otherwise you have to pay 5.5 euro per person to enter Beautiful and views to experience. The itself was a 3 minutes from the area. was free. You have to go through forest path. Just be careful and I recommend to bring footwear that has your feet fixated. So no sandals. Photos shot on Galaxy S23 A nice spot after swimming in the blue lake. You can park and have a look or around the lake. It is breathtaking.
