We went to watch the Peterborough Phantoms as this is their home game venue. Well organised and a great experience. Best to buy tickets in advance, clean toilets and various places to eat inside on Ice Hockey game days. We had a great time here, we paid for skate and see Santa. This Santa was by far the best Santa we have seen in a while, it wasn't rushed, he took his time and asked my daughter loads of questions and made it really enjoyable. He had an elf with him called "bell" she was amazing with my daughter and interacted with her loads, she even done 3/4 Laps on the ice with my daughter holding her hands and really praising her for skating as it's was her first time on the ice. They both made it a very special and enjoyable day Staff were friendly and helpful. The boots are terrible, so painful and hard not just for me but also the rest of the family. It works out expensive if the children need the polar bears or penguins and gloves. A great night out to watch the ice hockey with a atmosphere. Let down by awful parking. There is not enough and what there is, is both quickly full and very expensive. You therefore realistically have to on the housing estate over the road, which is not ideal for local residents. The view of the ice hockey is probably not as as MK lightning as the seats are a lot lower down, but the shop is better and more reasonable with pricing. The itself is great - staff, facilities, and the was spot on. Would happily give 5 stars if it weren’t for one thing. Like many other reviewers, we were hit with a completely unjustified “fine” from the car operator, despite paying correctly and having proof. This has been raised countless times by visitors, yet the venue still hasn’t addressed it. It’s a shame, because the hockey itself is excellent, but the ongoing issue means we’d think twice before coming back. Hopefully management takes this seriously, as it risks undoing all the work inside the arena. Edit after business response: While Planet Ice say they don’t manage the car park, the fact remains that it’s their chosen operator they’ve contracted the space out to. Until Planet Ice take responsibility for the operator they allow on-site, the problem will continue What makes this special is the great little community of figure skaters and coaches. Friendly, supportive and considerate on the ice and working hard to do their best. The ice itself can be somewhat rough, definitely seen better days, after hockey games can be pretty chewed up, with big ruts, holes and lumps. That said, when the music system’s working, and the rinks competitive figure skaters are running their routines, the atmosphere rocks. 3 starts because the Ice was in condition, was cheap & the staff were really friendly too. Negatives - the prices for skating are a bit steep considering (cost us around £55 in total for 3 people & a spectator, plus hire of boots & an ice aid for our youngest). Facilities wise it doesn't really offer alot - coffee machine out of use, no café open, vending machines with prices that weren't correct (items costing more than shown). I'd recommend bringing your own snacks / drinks. It may be we were just unlucky with the day we visited, that said we would return as it's our closest Ice - even though we're an hour+ drive away! Really day out, been in for hours, not too busy so you really get to enjoy that time, the building looks a bit tired but that's not what I was there for. Really nice bunch of customers there as well. size but not the best ice. Looks a bit tired everywhere. Staff helpful and friendly. You need to note. on road you can get fined. There car for is around the back on rough ground (not owned by rink) You literally have a couple of minutes to pay by machine at the front of rink, 2 machines just outside doors of reception. YOU WILL GET FINED if you are not quick to pay. Its pay before you entre and keep your receipts for minutes 2 weeks in case of any issues we were advised. If you have other people with you, would recommend if you have someone with you, get them to pay while you park. It's has a café but not reliable to be open. 2 hrs £3 then jump up 6 hours £6 Very disappointing – feels like a trap What should have been a relaxing birthday outing turned into a stressful and costly because of Planet Ice Peterborough’s arrangements. As a genuine paying customer, I feel completely conned. There is no reasonable allowance for customers unless you use public transport, which is unrealistic for many families, especially in winter and in the evening. is effectively a trap for anyone arriving by car. The tariffs make no sense: £1 for up to 2 hours but £2 for 24 hours. If vehicles can remain for 24 hours, the car clearly isn’t under pressure, so why penalise genuine visitors who are inside the venue? After receiving a £100 charge, I checked other Google reviews and quickly realised this is a common complaint, not a one-off. Please don’t respond with the usual line about having “no control” over a private contractor. This is your site, your customers and your responsibility. If you allow a contractor to penalise genuine visitors, that reflects badly on Planet Ice, not the motorist. We paid a lot of money for an already expensive visit in a facility that feels run-down and underwhelming, only to be hit with extra costs afterwards. What was meant to be a birthday treat has now left a sour taste and spoiled our Christmas. Sadly, this means we won’t be returning, and I would strongly warn others to be extremely careful about unless they plan to arrive by public transport. The ice itself is fine. Viewing facilities very basic - so wrap up very warm if you are just watching! The on-site restaurant closes early (3.30 - 4-ish), so after that it's vending machines or bring your own refreshments. is inexpensive. However... the pay machines (near the ice entrance) are not very clear, so make sure you choose the correct anticipated length of stay. IF YOU OVER-STAY BY EVEN A COUPLE OF MINUTES YOU WILL BE HIT WITH A HEFTY £100 FINE!
