Absolutely fantastic experience and incredible performance. Definitely do not miss a chance to see the show and visit the museo! A really fun production with beautifully made puppets, and despite it being only in Italian, it was quite Shakespearean in terms of content. Lots of dead bodies, spirits, good and bad characters, and well worth it! I don't speak Italian, so I didn't know how much I would enjoy, but I thought it would be unique. It was a wonderful time and a very unique experience. Everyone was extremely kind. If you need a good laugh, take a moment to read the one star reviews of people complaining about the violence and that their children were separated and seated right upfront. This is a kind crew of wonderful artist that I hope they keep this tradition alive for years. Theatre with a difference.... Something different to do early evening (shows at 5pm , closed Sundays). I attended a sell out performance. All in Italian, but with a short precis in English beforehand. Amazing puppets - with just head and arm movements and music and tone of voice I understood quite a bit though I don't speak much Italian. However - a very blood thirsty, confusing storyline, eight soldiers dead in the first scene! Moors versus Christians. Then into a kidnapping a princess story with a brief appearance by a "bad" Robin Hood kind of character who attempted kidnap but failed, then a "monster" kidnapper with animal face... Then a female knight then a scene with knights joking (my Italian is too poor to get the jokes!).... Fun but mildly confusing. I'd still recommend it to those who like to try something different! Lasts just under an hour. Seeing the puppet show was one of my favorite things about visiting Syracuse. It is a really outstanding experience! The puppets look so life-like and full of expression and the shows are really compelling! We loved the pupi show in Opera dei Pupi - siracuse. They made a great performance and a fantastic job preserving this ancient art. As the show is in Italian maybe a suggestion to the non italian speakers could be some legends projected somewhere to help. Amazing, beautiful, dramatic. Never seen a puppet show this good. They are talented and they give a summary in Italian and English before, so it's not hard to follow the plot. Highly recommend.
