I have heard the noises a number of times when I’ve been walking in Hazlehead Park a number of times but never thought to go here until now. As you can see by the picture the prices is a charge and there are a number of different to be seen, a aquarium and the chance to pet the animals. Doesn’t take long to go around but is cheap so it’s fine enough. It was a great experience as it allows youngsters to see close up. Took the grandson to the pets ,he had been before but was to little to remember. Busy place with lots of nursery and junior schools visiting. Adorable little everywhere—even the giant snake, haha! Visiting this place was a perfect idea, especially since I’ve been into books about life lately. They’ve switched to winter hours now (so times are not correct in this page), so they close at 17:00. We arrived at 16:45 on my birthday, but unfortunately, security didn’t let us in, so we visited earlier the next day. The entry fee is £4 per person, and it’s definitely worth it for a quick mood boost. Really enjoyed my here yesterday, very cheap to get into and had a great time petting the animals. Very nice and pleasant experience visiting here last week. More to see than we first thought and the aquarium and exotic exhibits were brilliant. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Looks well maintained and great location. Perfect for the little ones and lovers. Lovely for what it is. It's small, a few great for a 30 minute or so I wouldn't expect much more. Animals are reasonably well cared for. Would love to see a bit more interactivity, a few more facts, information fun things to do. But saying that the price reflects it as it's cheap. We loved it! Small, but with a good selection of animals, who all looked very well cared for. The place is very clean, and well run, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. It cost under £8 for a family of 4, and we spent over an hour needing entertained, especially by the very friendly goats!🐐 Lovely little place. The were very warm to us and seemed content getting petted. The fish and lizard house was very cool. Hope this place gets a more funding in future to maintain its habitats and make new ones for future animals. Great place for jids Has a nice outdoor area with goats, peacocks, rabbits, chickens, llamas or alpacas, emu, donkey, pigs, geese, and more, as well as a combined aquarium and terrarium with fish, insects, reptiles (lizards and tortoises), and a beautiful Burmese python! Maybe a tad pricey, but definitely worth it! Suitable for bringing the kids, and has hand sanitiser stations (though they could do with being slightly better kept restocked). There are also toilets and a baby change area inside the aquarium & reptile house! I had higher hopes for this place as I had heard some good things from others, and initially upon entering I thought it was alright but unfortunately it was quite disappointing to see some of the conditions that the inside were being kept in here. The farm yard all seemed fine, though the pens are not very big. We noticed that there was a lot of poo and not a lot of food, but hoped that they would be fed and cleaned later. Upon moving inside we first encountered a rather sad looking Sulcata tortoise, (who was being randomly housed with a meerkat?) He had obvious shell issues - pyramiding and general misshapenness. but we thought perhaps this was a rescued animal, so we moved on. However, upon seeing the rest of the reptiles we thought actually maybe this is a case of poor husbandry... The fish tanks seemed okay, decent enough in size for the fish and pretty clean (though I wish them luck with that red tail catfish which will definitely outgrow that tank). The reptile enclosures on the other hand were all pretty dire. The tegu enclosure for example is far too and there's little enrichment at all for such a large and intelligent lizard. Both the bearded dragons needed bigger enclosures as well, they were practically bouncing off the walls and again had only a single platform each to sit on. There were 5 Chinese water dragons in an enclosure which really ought not to have more than 3. This might have been forgivable if they had anything to climb on besides a couple of rubbish sticks on the ground and a pitifully "pond". These are arboreal lizards and they were all sat on the bare concrete floor! Something we noted in many of the enclosures was just the amount of bare and dead space, which is such an easy thing to rectify but clearly has not even been attempted. We also noted that for 5 individuals they had only 1 basking spot, and what we assumed was UVB was not positioned in the same place, so the have to choose to be warm or to get UVB, which is not the correct way to set up reptile lighting at all. This is basic stuff. The T5 bulbs in the python enclosure were also pointing in completely the wrong direction (outwards instead of down) so they wouldn't have been providing the with any benefit whatsoever. Sadly looking around all the enclosures was much the same story, inadequately sized and/or poorly set up. The leopard gecko was especially sad, he had no proper hiding place, the poor thing was trying to sleep under some plastic leaves, he had nothing to climb, and his water dish was full of rotting moss for some reason. On the wall near to this enclosure we saw labels for that we had not seen, which made us wonder if they had not survived the poor conditions of this place. It was clear to us as experienced reptile keepers that whoever was in charge did not know what they were doing for most of these animals. We really hope that they rectify these issues because the reptile house could be a great place if they actually put some effort into improving the enclosures, otherwise it's just a depressing for anyone who actually likes reptiles. Great place to go with kids or even yourself just to see all the animals. Staff at the pay hub are very friendly and chatty and come over to tell you a little about the animals. Plenty to see and do for any age.
