Stunning, to see that high a sand dune and that much sand is a rare treat. Beautiful clean with great access Nice place but WTAF is it with Aberdeenshire council and car parks. If you have a camper or 4X4 forget it. Ridiculously narrow post at all the entrances with no signs saying how wide it is, yet they tell you the maximum height when there is not a height bar. You could drive a double decker bus in if it wasn't so narrow. Absolutely stupid. See photo's Fantasticly Huge, vast sand all leading to a wonderfully beautiful long sandy beach, add in sunshine and you have a venue well worth a visit Lovely sandy beach. Couldn't tell what was in the building or whether it was open. Play centre? Cafe? Information centre? Lovely, nice open and scenic country park with plenty of sand dunes, flowers, and other wildlife. We were really impressed with the biodiversity that this park is home to. There’s a small tuck shop, but it’s only open on weekends, which is fair enough because it’s staffed by volunteers. The only thing that lets this place down in my mind, is the toilets. They’re really really grim. The cubicles didn’t lock properly; there was running water, but no soap; while there was technically toilet paper, it hadn’t been fed through the dispenser, so it was inaccessible; there was blood on the floor (no sanitary bins provided) ; the toilet button needed to be held down for 30 seconds to flush properly. It’s a real shame because the park itself was lovely! Excellent place for a walk. Amazing views. If you are lucky with the weather you can spend all day here. Nice playground and walkways. You can also have pic knock or barbecue here. Fine golden sand. Beautiful dunes. Elegant wind turbines gently turning in the wind. Avert your eyes from the adjacent golf course. Loved it. Beautiful day. Did not like the parking bollards to get through to the car park far too close. Toilets could be modernised and smell better. The makes up for it though. Loved our visit here. We went off season so it was super quiet, just some dog walkers passing by. The are amazing to see, but would definitely recommend sticking to the paths as there are some steep drops. Plenty of parking, but a tight squeeze to actually get into it. It was a great spot for a barbecue, really nice overall. Perfect and beautiful Nice place for family picnic. There are benches and a barbecue area, a playground and a coffee kiosk nearby run by volunteers. Can grab all your family and a bog for having a great time Fantastic beach, dunes. You can walk for miles. On the weekend the Sand Bothy is open for a wee coffee and snack after a play in the park. All was great, except for the dirty - birds remainings and moreover dogs feces were not something you expect to see at a family-friendly place. The gents toilet was dirty too, so my husband regretted taking our toddler there (we had our travel potty with us). The ladies toilet was locked at all. To be honest, I wouldn't mind paying a fee for the toilets at the Balmedie Country Park if it makes it cleaner (=safer for children). Positive - Beautiful location. Had a nice walk through the dunes. Negative- so many bins, but plastic bottles and bags left by visitors to beach. People having BBQs despite signs not to. Human waste and soiled nappy lying in the carpark. Toilets are disgusting. The smell is awful.
