If you are going to hire a in Bayeux these guys are simply the best. We hired two e-bikes sat night to Wednesday. We picked the up and dropped off at the tourist info. On one day I had a puncture at the end of the day, they met us off train and fixed in 5 mins. We took the to Caen, cycling sword Juno and gold beaches and to Caen. We did a cycle round Bayeux Next to Caen, bus to hornfleur cycle to Deauville thru valley. Finally train to carentan and cycled to Omaha and back via German battery to Bayeux. The maritime cycle route is very good although we lost the signs in two places (port Bessin - never found again & overlord museum - follow sign for maritime velo, road is on left as you climb). Taking on train and bus is common, the reservation system is mysterious. Just a brilliant company and super helpful. My husband and I rented electric touring to ride from Bayeux to Omaha Beach and beyond on beautiful seaside paths. Our were well-maintained Bosch's, and helmets and single pannier bags were included. Inside the bags were locks and basic accesories (pump, tire sealant,etc). The were promptly delivered at the agreed time, and the shop representatives were very cordial and helpful. We highly reccomend! A different and beautiful way to experience Normandy. You get a great ride along the countryside that takes you right to the sights. I would recommend starting early so you can stop for breaks and pictures along the way and to make it to all desired locations. We took the train from Paris to Bayeux. The station is close enough to walk or taxi to the shop. Be prepared for biking a lot of miles-bring snacks and water! Loc Velo was so helpful and the and equipment were great. The bloke that gave me my was awesome. He showed me what route to take and what app to use, also gave me a phone holder and extra luggage, no extra charge. Obviously loves his job and made the whole thing a pleasure. The bloke that took my was great too. I used the to visit Omaha beach . The ride was great and the was super comfortable for me. When renting , they give a helmet , pump and padlock. The employees are very friendly and hepful and know english .Renting is quick and easy. I recommemdet using this company . Fantastic service, an absolute must if visiting the area. The coastal routes are simply stunning and highly enjoyable especially on electric/ hybrid bikes! We had 3 children under 7, so the two youngest were in a trolley out the back and my 7 year old had his own bike. We ended up Swapping his midweek so he could be attached to the back of one of the electric to help with some of the colossal hills! I appreciated the wide selection of equipment and the care of its setup, two rode gravel and two rode e-touring – it is obvious the nice folks at LocVélo are cyclists and selected equipment that they would ride – the Canyon gravel I rode I would happily ride daily. The patience and thoughtfulness exhibited throughout the entire process made me feel comfortable and confident, and the well sorted packs complete with tools, power bank, helmet, and lock, to the curating of one of their routes to our start and finish location were fantastique. The delivery option worked so well with our schedules and relieved us of planning, collecting, and returning our four bikes. This is probably the most ideal way to experience the Normandie countryside, from Bayeux to Omaha Beach - (provided you are up to the task of biking). The person who helped me with the was very friendly, and gave very clear instructions and directions in English. Their addon package was an absolute steal that included a preprogrammed route that could be uploaded to your phone, and a hefty power bank for your phone - both of which were lifesavers! The route was perfect - leading me through countryside roads, alongside farmlands and beach routes, past various monuments and relics of the D-Day invasion that I'm sure many others may have missed by taking more direct routes to the beach. Of course the route still takes you to the American cemetery and Omaha Beach itself (including the museum if you are interested). The had plenty of storage for some camera gear and water, and the electronic assist was helpful for making sure I didn't tire out (and battery was no concern - and I used the Turbo mode to help on some uphill areas, especially towards the end). I managed to see everything I wanted to and more in just a day, have lunch at the beach and still had plenty of time to get catch the train to and from Paris. I absolutely would recommend this to anyone looking to really soak in Normandie for what it is and take a journey that respects the history of what happened there.
