If you must go back you should plan the same time. There is a beautiful waterfall where you can swim. 2,5hr walk to go down and back up. Pack a swim suit do you can jump in the waterfall and a good camera to capture the epic century old hydro electric plants that tell the history of Azorian's experiments with Renewable Energy. The place is worth visiting, resembling the perfect setting for a horror movie. There is a well-marked path leading to it, and it’s fascinating to see how nature is reclaiming the ruins of the old hydroelectric power station. There is a spacious parking area in the vicinity. Only half an hour walk with many stairs from the car parking above, or an hour from the village below along the river with two beautiful waterfalls. Amazing nature which captures also the power station. This is the main part of the power plant – beautiful for photos. I really like places like this, and I can imagine that at night it could be a bit creepy. 😄 We came here from the south, starting at the waterfalls. The walk from the parking before the waterfalls to here took about 1h 40min. From here to the upper parking is only about 5 minutes, and then we were lucky – some very nice people gave us a ride almost back to our car and saved us a lot of time. Easy trail and amazing view of rusty machinery between trees and ruins I really enjoyed it here. The historical buildings were really interesting. Not too many tourists although a school trip of kids showed up while i was coming back. At first i was worried that the dry river bed meant there would be nowhere to swim but if you just keep following it, you will get to some natural pools. There is one which is lower down that everyone seems to stop and think about jumping into, if you want to swim in there you just need to go around and climb down the hill. Its not easy but thats the only way. Mildly bothersome having random people come up and just stand there watching you swim, i know theyre wondering how to get down themselves but it feels a bit weird. Water is also quite chilly. Also the steps have lots of places where you can fall and in general the soil was very dry and loose. You may fall on your back or trip unless youre careful. The historical buildings themselves are cool and the swimming ties it all together and makes it generally a place i would recommend visiting. The stairs will get tiring though These hydroelectric ruins lie close to the water reservoir, quietly blending with the surrounding nature.
