Open excavation site with ongoing activities. Much more to be revealed in the coming years. Visit the Petric history museum as well where the majority of the findings are exhibited. Plenty of parking available by the road. Interesting place for a short visit. The guided tour is entertaining. Very nice place! I hope you to find more buildings from the ancient city of Herakleia Sindiki. A bit unnecessary, the surroundings are very beautiful around, but everything is really ruined and a bit neglected and you can't really see anything, the columns in the middle are mostly restored and therefore not real and it sucks a bit, there was a total of 1000 people and the price is really low so it's not bad to get there, on the way there are hot springs and a river, but everything is really dirty and full of garbage all along the way. It's very sad to see nature so ruined and dirty, they built luxury hotels on the road that is really not clean and it's a really harsh contrast, instead of cleaning nature and taking care of it, they pretend that everything is beautiful when it actually isn't Beautiful ancient town, witness of Thracian, Hellenistic and Roman times. Only a small fraction of the entire town has been excavated, but it is already pretty impressive. Also, do not forget to read more about this whole place - Rupite. It is indeed a very special one. Clean site, well documented literature, excellent customer service from the staff on-site. Notice that the majority of the artefacts (if not all) are in the nearby museum in Petrich. The museum is free of charge and it is beautifully arranged. A must visit as well. The last 3 photos here attached are from the museum. Nice place for connoisseurs. Note - umbrella or hat under sun. Amazing place! Definitely would follow up on the development of the excavation works, who knows what treasures lie underneath. So much history packed in one place, only a fraction has been discovered and yet already has been proven to be so valuable. There isn't much shade so try to avoid the scorching mid-day sun and absolutely do ask for a guide - the archeologists share so much knowledge and are ardent about what they do, they can light a spark in any visitor! Ancient Roman settlement ground. Incredible to visit, together with the Historical museum in Petrich where all the historical artefacts are preserved.
