De abdij zelf kan je niet bezoeken, maar door eens rond de abdij te lopen, krijg je een goed beeld van de enorme oppervlakte. Een wandeling door de natuur rondom de abdij is op een zonnige lentedag absoluut een aanrader. What a lovely place for drinks and food A trappist monastery with a hiking path around the area. Big enough to hike for around 4 hours. The monastery is where Westmalle beer is made. Its closed for public for now due to covid restrictions. Not possible to visit inside the abbey and brewery but have enough information about them with 11 signposts. And a nice walk around on a sunny day is more healthy than drinking beer, isn’t it? De Trappisten zijn gesteld op hun rust. De abdij ligt ver van de weg, in een grote tuin met hoge muren eromheen. Je kunt daar omheen wandelen, maar veel te zien is er niet. Eigenlijk is dat niet erg, zo lang de paters maar hun heerlijke bieren blijven brouwen. En koop er wat van hun lekkere kaas, dan heb je enig zicht op het klooster - en je wordt er vriendelijk geholpen, en de kaas is heerlijk! Ottimo lo shop dove acquistare formaggi, marmellate e miele. Lovely place. We love it!
