If you come from Berat, allow 3.5 hours (without stops) and avoid it if you don't have a 4X4. We didn't, but the trek was passable with great care in a Skoda. (Only a little over an hour from Permet on a mostly better road.) For the cafe, it was worth it! The food is prepared fresh from the owners' garden. The Byrek was made from nettles, not spinach. The fried bread dipped in honey with coffee was delicious, not heavy. Me and my mod partner really overestimated the loose pebbles and treacherous parts of the we were driving over and around. The first part of the leading to this lovely place was manageable and we arrived exhausted yet enthusiastic. It was scorching hot and we weren't aware of our hunger. Happy that we arrived, we accepted the terms of visiting this place - whatever the lady serves us is a menu of the day! I went for the local grape juice I think, and we both got plates full of garden veggies, their local cheese, and sunny side eggs made in a Balkan-granny style. She was out of spinach pie but she brought us a quarter after she saw the desire in my question. Soon followed the doughnuts I used instead of the bread to scoop the remaining liquids and oils from the plate I finished in a record time! She served us honey too, which doughnuts are supposed to be dipped into. While waiting for the food, we shuffled through the guestbook and chuckled on various doodles, snippets, short stories and interesting narratives of the people who ended up there in a similar manner. Before we left, we filled our bottles with their water, filled one and a third page of their guestbook (whoopsie!), and bought one for the - rakija of course! I gotta say it burns your insides even minute after you down it so maybe go for the honey instead :') ;) P.S. hug the granny and grandpa for me, they'll let you ^^ that's the Balkan way anywayb We were on bicycles comming from north, pretty busted from pushing the bikes uphill.... and then just before the top of the mountain, this little gem shows up, wonderfull lunch with homemade goodies. Very nice family run place, we were made ready for the 20km downhill This is gem. In the middle of the dangerous is beautiful old lady with warm heart that will take care of you, prepare you amazing food from self-grown and self made ingredients. Thank you for this experience. Very unique location with great food made from local produce. Beautiful spot to take a break from the bumpy ride. The offer great turkish coffee and fresh petulla with homemade Honey. There is also an Option to camp on their grounds. We highly recommend stopping here for a break along the way. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the place itself is beautiful, set right in the middle of nature. They serve coffee, beer, cocacola, and more, and you can also buy local products like honey, rakija, and other treats. Through this (a sign shows: 4x4-only), a reward makes every bump worthwhile: This small restaurant, appearing out of nowhere. The day was drawing to a close, and we knew there were still hours of driving ahead, but we decided to stop. We were welcomed with warm smiles, a breathtaking view... and freshly fried doughnuts dipped in homemade honey, garden vegetables, and a grape-based drink. We savoured this unique moment after the intense (with a baby!). Very nice place we stumbled on when we tried to cross the with our Fiat Punto. Difficult to reach with a Punto but not impossible.
