Spent a week at Ashridge on a corporate retreat… and what a place it is. My room was in the lodging area (I don’t think anyone can stay in the main house) but was perfect for what I needed (though a little cold for an American). England also did not disappoint as it rained probably every day but the one I got the pictures attached. The food was good each day and the house itself is beautiful, huge expansive rooms with vaulting ceilings. The trim and attention to detail is impeccable. But the star of the show, for me at least, was the gardens. There are trees on this property older than 3 generations of people. There are so many plant varieties and trees from all around the world that you can just meander for hours and still find something new. So much iI could write about- but really you should just experience it for yourself. I also got to see the Harry Potter series being filmed here. The place is just nice and peaceful and visually what you would expect. The drive into the grounds is quite awesome. People were picnicking. The house is open for weddings etc. Look at the website pictures. It looks amazing inside. They do not open to the public often. However, they have vast grounds, which was really nice to walk through. I had a salmon salad which had edible flowers, it was very nice. The seating area was atmospheric. We had a lovely time at the Ashridge Christmas Lights. The walk was very well organised and the different sections had a great selection of lights. The ferris (observation) wheel was an added bonus. The food options were OK but apparently not as good as last year! Visited for the Christmas light trail. Very well organised and a lovely walk around the grounds. Plenty to see and do for all ages. We attended the Christmas Lights event, and it was wonderful! Although we visit the gorgeous woodland reguarly, this was our first event at Ashridge House. Having paid a slightly high admission fee, we were dubious about the value for money. However, I can confirm that it was worth every penny! We were there for about 2.5 hours. And we're impressed with the attention to detail that the organisers had achieved. Lots of vibrant, beautiful colours, combined with the stunning architecture and grounds made for amazing photos. Our large family group varied in age, from 10 years old to late 80s. And everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Sometimes words can't do justice, so please see some of our photos from the event. I think they speak for themselves! The only slight negative was the additional activities. £5 for 3 to 4 marshmallows is very expensive. And perhaps the organisers could have included the observation wheel in with the high admittance price. £10 per person for a short ride is expensive, and the wheel only had 2 occupied carriages in the whole time we were there. But for the lights themselves, we can not fault. We will definitely go back next year Staying at Ashridge House felt like living in a museum, every corner reflects timeless elegance and classic design. The castle and its stunning gardens are absolutely breathtaking, offering a peaceful and unforgettable atmosphere. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, matching the grandeur of the place. An outstanding and unique experience we’ll always remember! It’s important to note that Ashridge House isn’t a public hotel, and there are no supermarkets or restaurants nearby, so be sure to bring your essentials. Attended the Christmas lights at Ashbridge. It was beautiful and much better than Kenwood house. All it needed was Christmas music and then it would of been perfect Absolutely fantastic evening had by all. Ashridge House is stunning. Plentiful, well lit, patrolled parking. The grounds are lovely and the lights, entertainment, food and ferris wheel were fantastic. There is a good pathway for wheelchairs/prams, so fun available to the whole family. I would definitely recommend it.
