Cakes and coffee were lovely, my new stop for a coffee with the benefit of birdsong and service.. Stunning reserve; is big enough to get lost in and is great for all ages. They have lots of for different abilities, regular activities (like Forest Bathing), areas for den building and other activities for the kids, and I'm pretty sure we spotted a muntjac there once! Great area with full of surprises. Plenty of birds especially if you are a bird lover like myself. Peaceful and tranquil woodland, heathland and neighbouring fields and some ponds are also present. Gardens are and are well maintained. Great restaurant/ café with the food being of a decent quality with the restaurant only a couple of years or so old and a great with plenty to choose from. You can take dogs but many areas are restricted so be prepared to accept that these areas can't be accessed. Some photos I have included as well. Another to Sandy RSPB, first of the year. Despite the cold the fish we're still out and about swimming in the pond and there was plenty of people braving the chilly weather. Had a walk and a chat with one of the staff about fossils, bought another pin badge too 😊 then warmed up with a coffee. Great place for a birding wander, many trails to choose from, lots to see, forna & flora both, nice for a drink & a bite to eat once finished and a well stocked shop. Well recommended for RSPB members & non members. I had always wanted to RSPB Sandy, and I'm glad I finally got to go. Lots of trails to navigate, some easier than others, with plenty of seats around to take a break. Gardens with an ornamental pond, a and separate shop, plus toilet facilities. Well worth a in my opinion, and particularly suitable for families. Had a walk around the on a misty winter day. We paid for a days parking and walked two of the routes with a coffee stop halfway. Went for a pub lunch and came back to do a third walk. Saw virtually nobody else while we were there despite the carpark being half full. We will be back several times in the year to see the different seasons Only stopped to see what it was all about as someone recommended it to us. We stayed for a drink and watched the beautiful horses. The lady told us we were lucky to see them as they have loads of land to roam. They have loads of different walks, absolutely beautiful place and we can't wait to return and do some of the walks. Stopped for a drink. Lots of Verity in the café. There is also the Lodge, the and the that are all worth a visit. Not very suited to visitors in wheelchairs ! No suitable paths . Usual membership hard sell which is common to many rspb reserves ! Volunteers were very helpful . This is a great place for a country walk. There are 4 , ranging from from 1.5 to 2 miles, which come be combined together, the terrain is mainly flat, but the Nuthatch trail does have a few steps about to accommodate, but nothing too challenging, didn’t get to see to many birds, but most likely the wrong time of day, but there was plenty of greenery and flowers to admire, mainly lupines, a great day out in the sun and it’s free to enter, apart from parking.
