An amazing location with loads to explore, the main entrance is magnificent and the ground were spotless and clean. It has excellent parking. It has a lovely to the second ruin and both are in fantastic condition. The hike up to the “lodges” from the car park is a steady incline, but the path is wide and easy to on. Immediately from the car park, you move right into the woods and remain there for most of the walk/hike. I think it does qualify as a hike, but for the most part I’d say it was a pleasant in the woods. It is quite majestic to just be walking along and come upon a structure like this. There are signs detailing the history, but I would say this is a quiet and infrequently traveled location. Worth checking out if you are in the area. This has been on my whishlist for a very long time. These lodges are just a very beautiful appetizer what comes next by go going further upwards. It is a nice relaxing stroll through a healthy and versatile forest. My husband's favorite of our 2nd trip to Ireland. Very pretty between the two locations. Whole thing took us about 1hr to and explore comfortably. We came here on a sunny day and walked from the Lodges to the Towers and waterfall. It is a bit of an uphill walk, and the loop back around to the parking took about 45 minutes at a leisurely pace. There are no toilet facilities on site, and the parking filled up quickly. Very much worth a visit though if you are willing and in the area. An oddity in the woods. Tells a story of what happens with envy and greed. A very nice and interesting at any time of the year. Lovely little to discover the towers and lodges at Ballysaggartmore. It's a circular walk, and I recommend to go see the towers first - the return to the car back is easier that way. The Ballsaggartmore Lodges and Towers can both be accessed via a steady round circuit. There is a steep climb upwards from the carpark to the Lodges, so if you start left and clockwise you experience a gentle incline on the to the Towers and then a short downhill on the way back The carpark can be full (it's small), and you are encouraged not to leave valuables as it's also fairly remote. There are picnic tables close to the carpark and the Lodges are a short journey if you're time poor and don't want the whole circuit. If the weather is pleasant it's a lovely through the Ballysaggartmore Woods; I did wish I'd taken a walking stick. An easy, slightly uphill brought us to this majestic but unfinished structures. The building stopped back in 1800's but the structures left behind are worth the hike. The forest is beautiful, the trees are decorated with moss, tall spruces and pines, intertwined roots that also twist around the trunks. A waterfall hidden in the depths and of course the towers, there is something magical in them. The is beautiful both on a sunny and cloudy day! There are benches, you can relax and consider all the greatness of nature! And nature at the same time will consider you, this can be seen in several of my photos, a curious bird that is not at all afraid to be near a person) Also a micro world of a beautiful forest.
