The Hellenistic ancient theater of Dìon is located at the foot of Mount Olympus 17 km south to Katerini and 200 m from the village of Dion. Its construction dates to the Hellenistic era, probably in the reign of King Philipp V (221-179 BC) that rebuilt the city of Dion. The excavation work of the site began in 1973 and ended at 1998.
