It’s a very small place. You have nothing to do with, but take a dip in the icy cold river. There are many bars and restaurants ( as everywhere in Albania), and it’s impossible to eat your food, because there’s not many places to do! Hands down the worst thing we did on our entire 3 week trip to Albania. What I’m sure used to be a beautiful nature area has now been completely exploited by mass tourism. The “port” (if you can even call it that) is complete chaos - the “tour” operators herd the you into boats like cattle and drop you off at Lumi i Shales. When you get there, there are a million beach bars with moldy beds playing ridiculously loud music and selling severely overpriced food/drinks. There’s no more beautiful nature; now it’s trash, excavation diggers, and a bunch of nasty beach bars trying to capitalize on the high expectations of tourists. It’s trashy, overpriced, and under regulated. What a shame that the government doesn’t step in with regulations that preserve the natural landscape and beauty. Now it’s just another scam. Don’t waste your money! Absolutely gorgeous place! Shala is a hidden gem nestled amidst picturesque mountains, offering a serene escape. However, the unfortunate presence of litter in the lake and the construction of new buildings do mar the tranquility of the place. The increasing number of tourists also seems to be taking a toll on the peaceful atmosphere, impacting the overall experience of this otherwise remarkable destination. Incredible point must to visit . we were there in April and it was really cold there but the views were great Amazing view. I you go with car go to Koman and not the the road close to Lumi I Shakes and then take a boat. Is the only way to go there.
