Had an enlightening and entertaining talk from our Holly whilst being shown the remains of the original street level near Norwich Castle. An enjoyable experience I would recommend to anyone interested in the of the city. We have now also taken the Chronicles of Christmas (December 24) and enjoyed a stroll around Norwich, being shown buildings and sites with their origins and uses during a variety of historical periods. Our guide, Max, kept us entertained and informed. It was nice to learn more of the of Norwich. At the end of January, we joined the Magnificent Marble Hall Tour. This was a of the head office of Norwich Union (now Aviva) in Surrey Street, Norwich. Our was again Max, who spent an hour showing us the very grand entrance hall and meeting rooms of this lovely building. A very worth while in what are still working offices of this insurance giant. Visited the Marble Hall Norwich yesterday. Apart from the astonishing hall our was fantastic, knowledgeable and fun. Can't wait to do another with this social enterprise group I had seen this advertised on Facebook. I am fascinated by so it was too good an opportunity to miss to see how Norwich evolved over the last 1000 years or so. The booking procedure was easy online and there is always the options of calling in to the office or by phone. The price for the hour long was reasonable. I was kept updated via email about my forthcoming tour. On the day we met outside the office on Castle Meadow where we were invited inside and shown to a waiting area. Toilets are available on site. Once all together, the gave us a of the building and what to expect on the along with a couple of health and safety issues. The was fascinating! To be able to see life being lived, in what we would consider, its most basic form, was enlightening. The was very knowledgeable and kept the group informed about every nook and cranny as we descended into this subterranean world. Time flew by and the ended by us being escorted out of a door and onto a street that was familiar yet not having been immersed in a different world. Thoroughly entertaining and would recommend this tour! Plus I can't wait to go on one of the other excursions they offer too!! Wanted to do something different on our wedding anniversary so we booked on the underground Norwich with Shoe box. The was well worth doing, amazing what is under their premises and learning the of both the building and the area around it over the past few hundred years was very interesting. Our was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Very nice place, i visited with customers and they found it interesting too. Let's not spoil but it's a very good, layered story that takes you through the of Norwich starting in the basement of the building. The is clearly very experienced and completely into the thing! Second time on the and enjoyed it just as much. Each has a different spin on things and will go into depth on different aspects of the hidden area. Don’t go expecting to see a lost city, visit with an open mind. Support a cause and get to know more about Norwich’s rich history. Excellent !! Didn't know what to expect and this was so interesting. and information from more that 700 years ago in that very building and location, ouir (Anna?) was brilliant at delivering the information, answering questions and enthusiastic about her subject. Can't praise enough We booked the Tipsy Tavern Trail for our work Xmas do. There were 13 of us, and if you're like us where you prefer an activity, food and drinks then this was a and unique idea. Max, our guide, was superb. He really knew his stuff, clearly loves what he does, and made it so much fun, as well as looking after us in each pub we went to. Considering you get a three hour tour, visiting many of the iconic spots in Norwich, and a drink in four of the pubs you visit, I'd say this is value for money. The team all collectively loved this part of the night, we'd highly recommend and would certainly love to try another one in the future! We had a Tipsy Tavern for our Christmas do, and it was the perfect way to lead into the evening. A fascinating insight into the of the city, with a few little drinks along the way! Max, our guide, was knowledgable, passionate and fun to be around. I can't recommend these guys enough and will be booking more tours in the future. We did the ‘secret street’ a few days ago and had a time! Our (a lady whose name begins with N.. can’t remember what it is) was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, we even got to have a good laugh too which was a nice touch. It’s only a shame that more areas haven’t been excavated and explored as I bet that would open up so many new areas and history. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to see that little bit more of Norwich. Plus the money you spend on the goes to good use too! Matt was our guide, it was a cold day and yet we hardly noticed as he kept us constantly distracted with information about all the places on the tour. His knowledge is unbelievable. He is friendly and easy to hear. The took about 2 hours and we finished in The Murderers pub which was very welcoming. Matt had reserved a table for us to have our inclusive drink. We chose to eat also. This was our second with Shoe Box and was very enjoyable and interesting. We did the Hidden Street at 1:30 today, one adult and two children, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The was knowledgeable, engaging, and kept everyone interested from start to finish. The hidden street itself is fascinating, and the children loved exploring the underground spaces and hearing the stories behind them. The is run by The Shoebox Experiences, a social enterprise, and the money from the supports their community projects, which makes the visit feel even more worthwhile. Highly recommended for families and anyone interested in Norwich’s Absolutely fantastic tour! Max bought Norwich's to life, his knowledge was incredible and his passion and enthusiasm had us hooked from the start. We learned so much about the city we have lived in for many decades and would encourage anyone to book. We will certainly be looking to do another Shoebox Experience! What a lovely hidden gem! Our was fantastic ( Amy). Her knowledge of the of norwich was incredible. You could really see she had a passion and it was just so refreshing to see. Such a lovely experience. Will definitely be doing more experiences here. It was an incredibly hot day and I unfortunately fainted and how Amy handled the situation was really lovely. Couldn't have asked for a better host.
