The Soteska - presentation From 1664 to 1689, the cout Jurij Žiga Gallenberg built the mighty Soteska in the deep and narrow Krka river valley. Designed as a rectangle with four single-storey wings, four corner towers and a special entrance tower, it was declared by Valvasor to be one of the most beautiful castles in the Kranjska region. The source of its economic power were the nearby forests, and a sort of golden age began for the valley during the 19th century when a sawmill was built on the right bank of the Krka river. The ruins of the and sawmill are open for visitors, and next to the the former farm buildings store exhibits of the Technical Museum of Slovenia. The also includes a garden pavillion with the Devil's tower (»Hudičev turn«). It’s worth to stop for a quick visit and some photos. Nice ruins and some hiking routes start here Nice ruins of the 🏰 and also just 50 meters from it you have a defense tower Hudicev Turn which is also worth a visit. You can make some nice instagram photoa there on a swing and a tower in the background. Dve minuten ogled, izgleda lepo. Vse pohvale! It is closed during the winter, but it is possible to contact the tourist office and announce the visit. Little but so pretty Very nicely arranged park next to castle. Amazing renovation...to keep old ruins in best glory. Night view with lights even better😍 Unexpectedly beautiful! 😱🤤 If you are travelling with bike, this is a must visit. Use the spreadsheet (link on fb page) to reserve a spot on the shuttle, and you are good to go. Sigle line trails with nice features that you can bypass, are perfect for experienced or beginner drivers and are a ton of fun for a biker. The trails are a true work of art, and are made and cared for with love, dedication and approval of local people. I really hope this place will soon be on a biking map among slovenians and tourists, so the hardworking owners can get even more crafty with the trails.
