Located just outside of Sandbach and Alsager. Mature course. Camping pods available Nice bar and a food selection. Great and challenging 18 hole course. Some water but not much Under "private" management, the course is developing rapidly, with particular professional attention to the bunkers and fairways. There is now a well maintained driving range and beautifully renovated clubhouse! Well worth a visit! First time playing here, and I didn't realise winter tees were in use. Grounds keeper shouted at me, which wasn't imprrssion on the first tee. Fairways weren't in condition, a lot were boggy, didn't seem well kept and overall wasn't really that impressed. Tried Malkins Bank golf course in October because they had buggies available when there was none nearer home. £20 to play on a weekday and £25 for the buggy. Nice course. Straight forward for the most part but there are a couple of tricky holes that would definitely be easier with a bit of prior knowledge! I'm looking forward to going back. After walking up the canal I called in to the club house at Malkins bank and had a sausage bap with a nice cup of coffee Having played here multiple times in the past, at least 20 and always enjoyed it. I’ve not played at Malkins Bank Golf Course for about four years until today. I knew by the website that there were new owners and they understood the trial ahead of them to get this once course back to its best. The new style club house is superb. More modern, welcoming and solid range of food and drink. Driving range is closed due H&S reasons, but not current owners fault. The course is still to play. Undulating, narrow in places, risk and reward, and fun packed holes. Yes, the fairways and need work, but once again I knew this from the website and still thought £25 was a price for the round. A green keeper will need at least 12 - 18 months to work the magic, but it will be worth it. Today was the most fun I’ve had playing golf in a long time. Thank you. Interesting golf course. can be bad and some parts prone to flooding. value at £15 but the £25 tee times are not value given course condition. Relaxed atmosphere but regular slow play. Golf course was in considering the hot weather we had had lately. The course is for those who are experienced novice players and those who are confident in their game. We had hoped to hire a buggy but unfortunately they were all booked out as it was the hottest of days. Each hole is tree lined so you need to keep the ball straight, saying that the rough had been cut back which made finding a rogue shot easier to find. The club house was quiet so service was quick. Went with friend's. afternoon even though a funeral was being attended. The gentleman should have had his 90th birthday but died. The family decided to go ahead with the band. Absolutely brilliant played Glen miller. The food was excellent. Service was great. Very Happy with everything about the Makins Bank Golf course x Location is - not far from home. Never stayed but sure room's would be nice. Service - at the bar/restaurant. This is where it goes downhill. Visit every week and the same member of staff has been working her shift when I visit. Shes all over thw place but not really getting jobs done, she will start to serve you give you 1 drink get distracted by something or someone else and leave you stood wondering when she'll carry on with your order, this is not acceptable especially when hot drinks are involved as one getting cold before she comes back to you and needs to ask "what was it you wanted " she becomes very distracted even if there is only 2 more tables being used. You get food before cutlery and shes constantly walking around looking busy but not looking after customers, used tables, or her bar. This week no saucers or biscuits with coffee and 2 different customers served while serving us. I am a barmaid and all these jobs are like spinning plates at busy times, but ive never been when its busy, and this is always the case. Shes pleasant enough but customers know bar etiquette, you get served as and when not in-between someone already through half their order A barmaid can serve multiple people at once without anyone noticing but this woman cant manage that. Very disappointed for this every week. I no longer wish to go there. Played at Malkins Bank yesterday as a guest. A really disappointed experience, the course is not well maintained at all. The are terrible and fairways are in poor condition. My understanding is this is due to the course being played on throughout the winter when other courses were rightly closed. Compared to other courses in the area, this falls way short of expectations. Certainly needs investment in order to get this to the level needed. location and course layout , has six cabin pods if staying overnight, the place is under new management , so alot of improvements going on , are bad at the moment, hopefully they will sorted it out by next season , restaurant area is clean and food is excellent Unfortunately, this was one of the poorest golf experiences I’ve had in quite some time. The course conditions were extremely disappointing: the fairways were dry and bare with little to no grass, while the were neglected, covered in leaves, and marked with large divots. It gave the impression that course maintenance and care are not a priority. £25 a round is extremely overpriced for this course especially considering Barleston is the same price. Regrettably, I would not recommend this course and do not plan to return Played 19 August. Tees are worn, little grass and very uneven. Fairways are similar. are terrible. Bare patches all over. Price has gone up for visitors this year. Value for money? 3 out of 10. We will not be going back and would not recommend. Only plus, very nice buggies. Ideal for the total beginner, do not come here if you get annoyed by extremely slow play. Poor golf etiquette, 5 and 6 ball groups. This place could be amazing if looked after. To top it off I just paid £21.80 for the meals below (including a coffee not on the picture) Pace of play terrible nobody lets anybody through. Worst I've played in a long time Absolutely abysmal course. It's a shame because the course itself could be great, but it's completely neglected and what care it does receive a 5 year old could do better. They've clearly never heard of a leaf rake or a lawn mower. Shockingly cared for course Played on the 10th May, the are in very poor (very patchy) the tees are in very bad the bunkers have to much sand in all bunkers So we Stayed here for a week Absolutely beautiful get away, quiet and relaxing next to a canal we had a lovely walk along. the cabins were super clean with comfy beds you sink into! breakfast didn’t disappoint either Some very talented chefs, Their tapas is a must try! We will be returning here before summers over thankyou so much for making our stay worth every penny!
