The is a host of the well known ski resort of Bansko. If are your thing don't miss the exploration of the Pirin Mountains. Great landscape, I enjoyed a lot! Amazing place for trekking and all kind of outdoor activities. The most beautiful in Bulgaria. Beautiful and relatively wild mountains, interesting huts, not crowdy paths. There are more dangerous and less accessible ridge paths, which might be omitted with by choosing another paths, however some of them are very long. There is also possibility to go directly to sand nearby Melnik, however such path is not well marked. All other paths are well marked. My favorite in Bulgaria. Great mix of different types of nature. Very beautiful. Beautiful! I find it really hard to rate a range but it's a bit funny, though. I can say so many things about Pirin and it won't be enough; it even won't come close to what Pirin really is. However, I do recommend Bansko (it's at the foot of the mountain), Vihren Hut, Bezbog Hut, Mount Vihren itself and the surrounding area. If you like the mature of and fresh air - great! Just get out there and move your body. Beautyful and best for trekking. Pirin is amazing place. Total area of Pirin is 2 585 km². On this area you could find 2 peaks above 2900 m, 7 mounts: 2800 m+, 32 mounts: 2600 m+ and 50 mounts 2500 m+. You could see 186 lakes. The forests, animals, wild life, the whole flora and fauna is amazing. But, everything have to be protected, from pollution, cutting trees, concrete etc... stayed with Pirin Adventures in Bansko, we went all over the place in these wonderful mountains. Great company and wonderful food, on and off the trails. they took us to some wonderful places, and it is spectacular and we are so glad we went with them, we had such a laugh and was well looked after and safe.
