Great live rock band venue. Perfect for smokers and those who are okay with crowds and poor ventilation. I give it 5 stars solely because it is the only place for metalheads in Slavonski Brod. Given the fact that you don't have much choice if you want to hear some metal in town, tiny interior and crappy toilets are something you just have to accept. Also, is friendly, people are nice and atmosphere is awesome so come here and bang your head. Just don't fart inside or you'll commit mass murder. Very cozy rock and alternative caffe bar, with relaxed atmosphere, and very good selection of beers! Usually packed with interesting, alternative oriented guests. Very nice staff! Cool place with the best of rock and metal and band music, with great trendy and adjacency to a bigger, Center of youth building in Slavonski Brod, Croatia, to which it forms the entrance. Crowds attracted here are eccentric, bikers type of pepole who could be called the "residents" of the cafe, in their full right, since the cafe is literally included in their every day routines and many of them even use it as kinds of a depository for unnecessary stuff which they drop off and then gather again after their prompted walk by the river side or along (and around) the main square, being situated just perpendicular to the Mesic street where this bar is. Make sure to come here on the prior to last Friday and Saturday of March since then is usually held, as many native peoples of Slavonski Brod call it, "The only two days they go out in a year", when a huge festival of remembering of one of the prominent New Wave as well as cultural, poetic, moviemaking and ethnological (the guy even had a PhD in ethnology!) figures is held, the "Kreso Blazevic Memorial", a native of Slavonski Brod himself. This two day festival includes many many artistic shows, including a debate about prose and poetry, which opens the show, followed by the visual arts performance and exibit by a prominent artist chosen for that year in the most prestigious arts salon at the main square. These both events occur on the pre last Friday of the month and the day is concluded by a multiarts spectacle called "Acoustic Night" of the festival, with written poetry, amazing acoustic bands and performances all along the evening. The caffeine Insomnia is included in the and is a co-host of the event along with town's cultural and political institutions. Saturday, the second day of the memorial, starts off with a full-on movie making workshop in the main town library, followed musical workshops including separate jazz, drumming and bassist, as well as song-writing workshops, and to be concluded by a blast "Electrical evening" of the event on Saturday night, which also closes the festival. Every single element of the festival is completely free of charge and hosted by the most prominent institutions, so kudos for the cafe Insomnia to participate and support this. If all of this wasn't enough, almost every Friday of the year at 8 p.m. the award-winning cinema club of Slavonski Brod, called the "7th Deck", since "Brod" means a sea ship in Croatian, in participation with the caffe organizes completely free of charge best movies of all times complete views, in full lenght, with a knowledgeable speaker forward to every movie explaining it's significance and why it holds such an estimated place in the history of movie industry. Free drinks are also included. All of these programs are supported by the government of Croatia, completely free of charge and open to everyone, and are a part of the bigger scheme of violence and abusive substances usage cessation programs, as a part of a reach out government program called "The Kameleon and the Web", of which a part and loyal supporter is the caffe Insomnia. Go visit all of the events mentioned on Facebook and Google and make sure to visit at least one of them during your stay in Slavonski Brod, and you will feel literarlly no longer a stranger in this town, attending it's best and finest, most representative programs. Apart from this, they have really affordable prices and a great variety of drinks, including very frequent live shows which occur almost every Friday after the movie club projections.
