This is a wonderful attraction when visiting Aalst. Stay long enough to visit the market square on Saturday when vendors are selling everything from fish and meat to clothing and flowers. This was a nice square to visit, but we were there on a Sunday and there was just a gathering of a scouting group or something. It made the square busy, but without much to see for us. We did have a nice drink on a sunny terrace though, which was a relaxed moment. I had the impression that the town was a bit 'quiet'. Second day of the Carnival - with a fantastic parade of brilliantly designed floats which seemed to go on forever.
