A chain pub, (Marsdens) themed events Very staff Good vibe Real ales Good quality food at reasonable prices Free car parking Kids play area Electric car charging in car park Marsden hotel 30 sec walk Great meal was a little slow due to not many on. The were very and polite. Food was great too. Really enjoyed our evening here. The were all lovely especially the lady looking after us. The food was beautiful! Really would recommend coming here! Few little cleanliness issues like huge cobwebs dangling from the lights over the but we can look past that! Wonderful Stay at The Fallow Field, Hagley We stayed at The Fallow Field in Hagley on Saturday, 3rd May 2025, for a leisure visit while attending a wedding nearby. From start to finish, our experience was lovely. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable—perfect for a restful night after a busy day. The accommodation area was quiet, which made for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Although we only had breakfast, it was fresh and enjoyable, and the were and very helpful throughout our stay. We would definitely recommend The Fallow Field to others looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay—ideal for couples or anyone attending events in the area. I stayed at the Fellow Field Pub and Hotel for 11 nights, enjoying both breakfast and dinner daily. The were exceptionally helpful and friendly, particularly the manager overseeing breakfast. I frequently the calamari as a starter and the sirloin for the main course, both of which were consistently cooked to perfection. The breakfast menu was outstanding; my favorite dish was the smashed avocado on toast accompanied by hash browns and mushrooms. Overall, the hotel experience was excellent. Disappointed with the service. It felt like we were in a black hole being ignored. We had a booked for 16.45, we arrived around 16.35 and were seated promptly. We were informed that it was today and that someone.would be over shortly to take our drinks order. At around 16.55 I had to get the attention of one of the waiting as nobody had been to see us. They took our drinks and food at this point, 2 blackcurrant and lemonades and 2 Pepsi max, there was no mention of sizes available for these. I was quite surprised, 10 minutes later, when the drinks arrived that they were all pints. Especially as one of our group was 8 years old. Eventually our starters arrived, were eaten, and taken away. Around 30 minutes later our desserts arrived, we hadn't been served our mains yet! These were taken away, then there was a further wait for the mains! The mains came, were eaten and our empty plates left on the for a further 15 minutes before they were taken away. We then waited until we had to remind the waiting again that we hadn't had our desserts yet. These arrive, with one dessert missing. At no point during our 2 hours were we asked if we'd like any more drinks. Every course required a reminder as we felt forgotten. When paying the bill I said how disappointed I was, explaining all the problems again, suggesting that there may be some recompence for the poor service, this was simply met with a sorry. Very disappointed... We came a week ago for a meal, as our brother came down for a visit from County Durham. The food was excellent, it all came out piping hot. There were 7 of us in our party, including 1 child. Everybody was happy with thier food, the choice on the menu was varied which meant there was something to suit everybodies taste. We came back a week later as two people could not make it last week when our brother was visiting. We had told them how the food was. Also the are very friendly, polite and are always very busy. As there were six of us this time, all the plates came out and were on the within minutes. Which meant we all ate at the same time. This is the sign of a well organised team working very well together. As "Arnie" said, "I'LL BE BACK". Jayne was our server for the evening. We were celebrating my birthday and was a of 7. The entire evening was spot on. We opened my presents first and there was no rush from Jayne and came over when we were done. Our drink was taken first and they came out efficiently and our food came out within around 20 mins of ordering. All the food was delicious and we all had different dishes. We had a 40% off voucher, this reduced the bill to an amazing price. Jayne was and really lovely. She interacted with our teenagers well whilst taking their mumbled haha! Thank you Jayne! Slow to acknowledge us waiting to be seated. When seated however, things changed for the better. Our was and attentive, she took our quickly and efficiently. We had our drinks at the bar to save waiting. Our food,1 mixed grill (a proper one with lamb chop, not cheap chicken alternative like most mixed grills nowadays), 1 sirloin and a child's fish and chips, was served quickly super hot and cooked to our liking. It was flavoursome and nice although a few more might have been better. Our only criticism is the mushrooms black, very black old earthy mushrooms. At the end of our meal the again was efficient in getting the bill. She was absolutely brilliant throughout our visit. All in all a very experience with near pwrfect value for money. But 5* service. We will return soon. Cozy, fast service, delicious food, staff, we are very satisfied. What a delight, I asked my server what they would have off the menu, they said the gammon that was new to the menu. This is something that i wouldn’t normally have, however when it was delivered by a very smiley I was very impressed. The dish was well presented and tasty. The pub was vey clean and welcoming. Oh,by the way the pale ale was perfect. Certainly not value for money. Most of the food on the plate came from the freezer. Lamb was chewy, pie was 2 bit size and didn't contain mint, as advertised. Plates were cold and, food was mostly only just warm. Well over priced. However, our was very nice and helpful. This was a last minute booking for 3 people as our original booking elsewhere was cancelled There was no problem with the online booking system The eating area was clean and the was very pleasant, but the venue lacked atmosphere, it just felt very flat The menu was but again just felt very dull, (maybe it was too dull, needed colour) We could not the drinks we wanted as they were out of mint, which is a very basic ingredient, so why were they out of this??? The food we was reasonably priced and was delivered in a timely fashion and was very good Overall a nice meal but nothing special I am afraid. were all very welcoming and friendly. was efficient and the food was delicious. We ate from the weeknight special menu and the price was very reasonable. At some places the ‘special’ meals are small but not here. We left feeling full but not stuffed. Perfect. food okay but nothing special. Reasonable price. I do wish that places would stop putting salad on hot plates ...ruins it especially when it's an important part of a veggie meal... Came for a Sunday lunch and the beef dinner. It came out and had 2 slices of very fatty beef, potatoes were hard (like they had been left out for hours). Gravy had no taste and the vegetables were hard. No care or consideration had been put into it. Also a strawberry spritz which sounded delicious based on its description and when it came out it looked nothing like how it was describe. It was a lukewarm glass of gin in a glass as large as a fish bowl. Advised our server that the dinner was not nice and he said ‘sorry about that’ and proceeded to get the card reader. Clearly wasn’t bothered about the experience we’d just had. A complete waste of money. Would not recommend. We visited on a Sunday afternoon. My husband had the sirloin which was very good. Unfortunately, however, the roast beef was not available, and the roast pork was very dry... I couldn't eat it. The crackling was but there was only a very small amount - could have done with a bit more. This evening we had a of 7 booked for 5:45pm. By 6pm, the place was filling up fast with large groups, and it became a busy and high-pressure environment—especially with the heat! Despite it being her first shift as a waitress, Caitlin did brilliantly. She was helpful, apologetic, patient, and remained cheerful throughout what was clearly a challenging evening. Thank you, Caitlin, for taking such care of us. We really appreciated your effort, and we’d definitely return and recommend this place to others. The was very but was very disappointed with the food overall. We got there to be told no and on flat breads which took out a substantial amount of what we wanted to order. Then when what we came out most of us had about 8 - 10 on our plates. I had the smallest bowl of fries i have ever had. It was more like a child's portion. I ended up saying to one of the members of that 8 was not enough. So she bought out 2 extra portions of out. To be honest I was overall disappointed with your food. Considering it was a pay day weekend I would expect you to have plenty of food in to serve your customers and not make luck like the food was being rationed. I gave you 3 stars mostly for the we had. was fast and and the food was amazing. Only popped in for a coffee but stayed for lunch and when its only£14.95 for two courses you really can't grumble at the standard. Kris is an excellent chef and the waiting/bar were brilliant also! Thank you, all. Lovely food, (our was named Jayne) It was quiz night, so quite busy. However, this added to the pleasant setting & atmosphere! We also used our discount voucher - thank you for a nice evening, we’ll be back soon! A was booked for five diners. The meal proceeded as follows Diners 1 and 2 fish finger sandwich - no fish fingers Diners 3 and 4 fish and - no fish Diner 5 our best pie ever - out of stock then roast lamb - no lamb Diner 1 soup - excellent taste but described as puddle in the bottom of the bowl. Barely a cupful Diner 2 sandwich. Mostly gristle. unappetising Diner 3 cheese sandwich. grated cheese on white bread rather stodgy. decreed just about acceptable Diner 4 and malbec pie. Approximately 4 inches diameter and no different to traditional and ale pie. Just OK Diner 5 the cheeseburger. OK as expected but nothing special for £14.99 On the whole, somewhat disappointing as we have dined here on other occasions and been very happy with the food. Clearly something amiss on this occasion. Very and helpful staff. Room well appointed ,bed excellent. All in all we had a great 3 nights eating in restaurant. Food was varied, fresh and very tasty! We stayed in Room 204 . I had an unfortunate mishap with the bed. I telephoned for advice and within 2 minutes a lovely person came to see if I was alright. Next came two wonderful housekeeping and changed the bedding. They really were lovely and couldn't do enough for me. I want to especially thank those two .(Sunday 19th October) And a big 'thank you' everyone who helped make for a most enjoyable and Pleasant stay. We will certainly be back in the near future. Shocking portions as pics below. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBL We are regulars on a Friday Night but Last week was Shockingly bad. The food was terrible. Cold in one case Over cooked fu of grizzlè with 6 yes 6 and 3 scraps. Not even a whole potato!! SHOCKING!! For over £22 not value for money. My Friend received about the same with the privilege of updating to sweet potato fries for an exta £1.50 and got a tiny portion too. I do have photos of our food. If you would like to see them ? Please reply out of curiosity Many thanks 😊 Me and my father travel to The Fallowfield every couple of weeks from Birmingham. The food is amazing, the decor is beautiful, and the are phenomenal. I particularly love Jane! She has always welcomed us from the start, she is incredibly professional, and kind. She is amazing with my son who is 3 months old, nothing is ever too much trouble. She has eased my anxiety when my little boy starts crying and people look over at me. She is just great from the moment we enter till the moment we leave, always makes time to have a conversation with everyone. Thank you Jane for the comfort you give me, my father and my little boy when we travel there for food. I would recommend this place to anyone.
