A very wide and open space, surrounded by very beautiful buildings, like the romanian orthodox church Nașterea Sfântului Ioan Botezătorul, the cultural center Athenaeum Maior Gheorghe Pastia, the imposing Hotel Unirea, and a few beautiful wooden stands selling icecream. In the middle of the square there's an obelisk-shaped monument called Monumentul Unirii, which is the most well known sight of the city. Center of the town. Everything starts from there. The main square where you can rollerblade or simply stroll. An old church nearby is nice to visit. The Aethaeneum is a great old building, the small park nearby is ok. Main events like festivals amd concerts take place here. They close the main road on the week end to allow pedestrians to have fun. Was there before the new year for the holidays but yeah, don't quite know what to say as I've seen it before the whole thing was refurbished and at least for me it looked more relaxing then than now but then again it was quite a couple of years ago when I was younger and maybe people didn't want to much.
