I’ve been living in Finland my whole life, soon 48 years, and I didn’t know that there is a visitor center in Olkiluoto where you can explore what’s going on in a plant. This summer, I accidentally saw an advertisement for the place in Turku. It’s totally free of charge to visit, and you even get a cup of coffee for free. It’s highly educational, and even the kids liked the place. There is also the “Voimaa Luonnosta (Power from Nature)” exploration trail around the visitor center, and along the trail, you can see the plants in the distance. The center has wide opening hours, every day from 10 am to 8 pm, and plenty of parking space available. The place is free to visit and open every day! Free guidance on a bus at summer times. Very interesting. Helpful staff. A showcase of educational materials about a plant. Starting from uranium mines until its final resting in an underground disposal after it has been utilised as a plant fuel. Display includes dissected fuel rods and a glimpse inside a reactor. Visiting this place can largely enhanced one's understanding of how plant really works. Decent showroom with real(ish) examples of Olkiluoto parts like fuel rods, reactor, containers and control room. If you (or your kids) are interested in the science/technology then nice place to visit. I recommend booking a tour ahead if you have bigger group, to be able to get paid bus tour closer to plants. An exhibition for those who are interested in power. Provides knowledgeable information and visual content. Treat yourself with coffee with a view to the plant as well as the sea. + enjoy a nature trail. Entrance free of charge Super place to have additional knowledges about nuklear It was great and it was for free. Kids had a lot of fun.
