This packed sandwich was not only delicious but encompassed highlights of some of the most loved cold and warm dishes at a Swedish Christmas table (Julbord). Here's what we found in the sandwich. The ingredients are beautifully stacked side by side in the order of the Swedish Christmas feast- - A base of soft bread with light aromatic hints of gingerbread flavors. - Marinated herring (sill), fresh, sweet and firm. - Homemade Swedish meatballs with a traditional taste that is hard to find these days. - Savoury Christmas ham with a nice rim of fat. - A slice of brie cheese accompanied by sweet grapes. - Granishes of gurkin slices, cucumbers, tomatoes, purple onions, and fresh dill. - A heart shaped gingerbread cookie. --- The café itself was old-fashioned and charming with views of the river. It was much larger and more spacious than what we imagined. We also had coffee and cakes. These were ok, nothing noteworthy. Some of the cakes are catered from a bakery from another town. What a wonderful location on a sunny and warm day. Sitting outside next to the lake. Great selection of food choices from their special sandwiches to cakes. We were there on a very warm and sunny Monday in mid May at lunch time. It was very busy with long queues to order. It all worked well though. Very kind and caring staff, excellent ice cream, and a very lovely view while sitting outdoors makes this worthy a detour to check out.
