The we rode were very calm and tied to the guide's horse, so no prior riding experience was needed. Our 6y old daughter and I took the 30 min. Option. She rode a pony. We had a great time. Note that inexperienced riders cannot ride with their kids on the same horse for safety reasons. Very good guide and excellent one-hour ride. Firstly we were introduced to our and then carefully explained how to get on and off step by step. We were also taught and shown the basics of how to control them. Not long after we departed the instructor let our loose (with our agreement ofcourse) so that we can attempt what we had just learned. We crossed small streams, icy and snowy roads, uphill and downhill terrain. Most of the trip consisted of walking but once we felt comfortable and stable enough we had our go at short trots. The were extremely calm and patient despite their inexperienced rookie riders. The route we took offered deer and other wildlife sightings. Would go again, I highly recommend!
