Tismana Monastery is the oldest monastery on the present territory of Romania. This is a historical monument and houses the holy relics of St. Nicodemus from Tismana, a saint who helps many believers in need, the monarchal complex also includes the museum of the national banks of the treasury. In the surroundings there are two skete belonging to the monastery. Very cool, I recommend the visitors to see the cave where Romanias gold reserve was stored as well. We were in the area and my parents wanted to visit the Monastery. Unfortunately most of it was under renovation, so we couldn't really enjoy the architecture and all that. However we found the museum holding part of Romania's gold reserve right next to the Monastery. It's in a cava, right next to it. Very interesting to see, also it's free entry so there's that.
