Staying at this amazing boutique lodging in Slap. The subterranean are a welcome relief from the heat. I wish I could make this a smell-a-gram because the smell amaze-balls. The dinner was set up for just the number of gueats. I chose 4 courses and wow I will pay off the visa bill eventually but will never forget this meal. It felt like michelin star. Anyone seen the ‘Hundred Foot Journey” will know what I mean. We went to the restaurant at this stunning old farmhouse outside Slap in the Vipava area. The food is prepared meticulously in a beautiful setting. While the price is quite high, the food and wines are sublime and reflect the flavours and vibe of the winery region of Vipava. An absolutely amazing place to stay. The owner greeted us upon arrival and made us feel very welcome with a personalized tour of the property. The were clean and eco friendly. The dinner was exceptional. All of the ingredients are so fresh from then gardens on the property. The creativity in the dishes was stunning. We did the 7 course tasting menu with pairings and everything was great. All staff on the premises were very friendly and attentive. 10/10 for both our stay and our dinner. We stayed at this wonderful little at the end of August for one night and absolutely loved it! The location is simply beautiful – nestled among vineyards, with several local wineries nearby where you can taste and buy excellent wines. The are located underground, which is such a unique and clever concept. They are tastefully decorated, very stylish, and absolutely spotless. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, offering a great variety. In the evening, we ordered the multi-course menu and were blown away by the creativity of the chef – each course was beautifully presented and full of flavor. Everything about this was perfect. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back The is located on a beautiful vineyard, and the are all in the building’s old cellar, although be warned that it’s a bit dark and smells funky down there. The staff are all very kind, eager to recommend activities in the greater Vipava area, and all extremely knowledgeable sommeliers. The included breakfast is limited and definitely left me wanting, and the dinner options are quite overpriced and very small portions (for example, €25 for two forkfuls of chicken), but it was syrups and jams they make in-house, since the property itself is not an active winery. Majerija is in an ideal location in the small town of Slap, with a population of just over 400 people for the 8 active wineries in the town; you’re always a literal stone’s throw from a tasting or a grape-festooned landscape. But outside of wineries, there’s very little to do in the Vipava area, and even the main towns felt quiet empty and deserted in what is ostensibly the busiest season. My whole family is a fan of Majerija. Pros: - Beautiful view, charming estate - Novel (in the cellar w/ skylight through the garden above) - Nice people - Good recommendation (definitely recommend visiting Štokelj Winery) - Responsive via WhatsApp with recommendations in the region, even before we checked in Cons: - AC in the Coriander room didn't work at all. The room stayed warm at night despite the cellar common area being cool, making it hard to sleep. - The was no warm water in the shower. As people used to warm water, we couldn't use it at all. - Maybe not a problem for everyone, but my girlfriend is sensitive to perfumes, and the room was filled w/ perfume from a dispenser plugged into the wall. I was also surprised by it given this is an agroturism hotel; perfumes don't seem to fit the "natural" vibe. - This was a very "hands off" experience. Maybe we shouldn't expect it, but we weren't told about the & it's mission, nothing about the foods' local origin, nothing about the local animal life (at least 3 llamas which seems uncommon & interesting). As a that advertises its unique location and local flora & fauna, we were hoping for a more informational experience. Very good restaurant. We was eating lunch here. Surrounding was gorgeous and food top notch. Staff was nice and peaceful. Thanks.
