What an amazing cool unique adventure. Real fun! The first half is hard and the way back is really fast and simple. Highly recommend! Had a lot of fun riding one if the railbikes. We were with two people and a dog. They provide a rubber mat so your dog can sit in between on the metal grate. Our dog was very scare however and cowered on the chair that is in the middle. Luckily we could hold her by her armband and she relaxed after a bit. The railcars are not very heavy to propel, but the first part is slightly with a 3% incline for the last 2km. It'll work up a sweat. At the end of the first 7km you can have a break and buy some snacks and drinks. Do bring cash though. We didn't but they let us pay when we returned to the start. The way back is much easier and faster as it is downhill. All in all a fun activity in a beautiful area We had a blast! The first section, from Kalterherberg to Sourbrod goes - you have to climb about 40m. But the view into the Venn High Moss pays off the sweat. And the end (and turning station) staff is selling some refreshments and snacks and while you recover for like 30mins, they turn all the vehicles to go downhill again. A great family adventure - about 2h and one car (for up to 4 people) costs 40 Euro. We were lucky that we could only ride on a beautiful sunny day at the beginning of July. The operator was very friendly and helpful. The track has a 3% incline and it took about 50 minutes to cycle uphill. Part of the ride runs alongside a bike path. There, you're cheerfully greeted by passing cyclists while riding through the unbelievably beautiful nature of the Hohes Venn. There's also a section where you ride alone on the old railway embankment, with peatlands stretching out on both sides. This is where you can truly enjoy the natural surroundings. At the top, you arrive at an old, disused station where the railbike is turned around for you, and you have about 15 minutes to enjoy a drink. Again, the operator was very friendly and helpful, offering good advice. The ride downhill is truly a gift. You roll down at a decent speed without having to pedal, giving you even more time to take in the stunning views. What an amazing experience. Back at the starting point, we treated ourselves to a Belgian waffle with ice cream on the terrace built over the tracks—a perfect ending to a great adventure. We had so much fun doing the rail bike here. The staff was really nice, the bikes were in great condition and it was a very nice experience as part of our trip. Great activity for family. Very polite staff also! I can imagine that it's not so fun in bad weather though. Very nice sporty excursion. We liked it very much. Straining though as the journey starts with a 7 kilometers trip. Nice views on the Fagnes landscape. We recommend it. To move the cart uphill, I recommend 2 adults or 1 adult and 1 strong teenager on the saddles Absolutely fun day, great weather and wonderful sights. Very friendly staff. a really fun activity to do with the family. They even have seats for children. We did it with our children and grandchildren. The youngest is 10 months old and she had a wonderful view from her special baby chair.
