It could all do with a lick of paint and it is rugged. But worth it if you like a walk. Need a place with a view of the lake, the mountains, the ducks, and the water lilies? Look no further than Lough Doire in Derryvella. You can either bring your own blanket and spread it out on the grass or you can always sit on the unique wooden table and chairs around. The reserve has around 17-acres of walking trail as well, so you can also take a nice, scenic to burn off all the carbs from your basket. 🤣 If you have kids though, you have to be extra mindful since there are no barriers around the lake. They can easily fall into the water. Lovely stroll around the small lake. benches and a small car park. The is clean good for paddle boat and a trail. Good for Beautiful Lakelands, lots of Biodiversity. Really place for a walk, run or just a peaceful moment. Some areas however they could be updated and refurbished. The little huts unfortunately attract unsavoury behaviour and so aren't very safe for children walking around. The in general is beautiful for kids to explore but no amenities so just keep I mind if visiting. Lovely place for walks and beautiful landscape. It is a bird sanctuary so keep in mind there are no bins available. Also must keep dogs on leashes as will come across everything from families and other dogs as well as the many birds that inhabit the lake. I found this place simply beautiful, lovely walk, no stress. I'd imagine the summer would have more to offer the visitors. We went in February, looking forward to my return visit. Very pretty & serene area. Had a & there. Saw lots of small fish swimming in the too. The only dissapointing thing was seeing so much rubbish around. Please take your rubbish home.
