I took to pizza bufala to take away, the pizzas were cold, even if we came at the exact time we got order. Also, 23€ for two pizza and no taste of bufala, it look like a regular mozzarella, really not a good pizza Never exceptional but usually OK food, today unfortunatelly not. Instead of promised 30mins it took 60mins. Meat was not eatable as it was fried in a burned oil and it had a bitter taste. Probably my last time going there. Waited over an hour for a pizza (a pizza!) while the restaurant was almost empty (maybe 5%). I had to walk up to them to finally learn that they forgot to mention that they're giving priority to a dozen online orders. Not even an apology. Food itself is pretty good, especially for the price. arrived around 730pm on a Sunday, ordered three plates and one beer. watched a table that sat after us receive their food before us. when our bill came, I noticed that instead of the goulash we had ordered, we had been charged for a steak at double the price. I told our server (in English) that I had not ordered that item, and I would be happy to pay for the items I had ordered but that I was not about to pay double the price as the result of his mistake. he said, but you ate it; and I said, I don't work here, it's not my job to verify what you are doing (tbh I still don't know what goulash is and did not recognize that a mistake had been made at the time). the waiter was not able to take accountability for his mistake and became very angry and threatening. some other guy, a manager or an owner got involved and also became very threatening. they said they were calling the police, and began to make ominous remarks about the police and my safety. at a certain point, the confrontation moved into the hall. another huge man, six foot and over 200lbs, ran up out of nowhere. he stood inches from my face, shouting in Hungarian or Slovakian (I believe this was the chef; he didn't seem to speak any English). now there are three six foot tall men, each 200 lbs+, towering above me and shouting furiously over a difference of $20 CAD. at this point, the second waiter gets involved. a very nice young man, he tried to meditate between the chef and i, who was still in my face, screaming. in response, the chef punches him in the face/head multiple times—he was so eager to assault me that his rage was instantly redirected to his own colleague. in the end, I was very nearly assaulted by three huge men and wound up sitting around for an hour "waiting for the police" before the manager just charged me the correct amount. the food was excellent (although the reduction with the steak was a bit too salty), very well presented, fresh, quality ingredients, good value, and a good mix of international dishes and Eastern European cuisine. the decor is a bit drab, dominated by grey tones and plastic veneer. I can't recommend this place on the basis of the service. they seemed like mafia. had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Rajka. We arrived late at night and were warmly welcomed by the gentleman at the reception, who kindly stayed past closing time to help us. He is a genuinely kind and generous person, and we truly appreciated his attitude. The food was tasty, everything was clean and well maintained, and the atmosphere was calm and comfortable. It’s a great place to stop for transit — peaceful, welcoming, and very close to Parndorf. Thank you for the hospitality! The personal staff were very sweet and caring. The rooms were fresh and cleaned and also some of them had AC witch was convenient during the heat. If you travel in Hungary and want to sleep for the night I definitely recommend this hotell.
